Gigapan: Mestre Vitalino Museum
Snapshot: Figures In Line
Description: These painted figures look to be an earthenware clay. The clay was probably dug locally from a river bank or at the bottom of a moutain or stream bed. It looks to be fired once in a bisque firing to harden the clay so that it can then be painted with an oil based paint. The figures are decorative and represent people of everyday life.

Gigapan: Tavazo-e-Bustan Nut Store
Snapshot: What It's All About
Description: Now I like to think of myself as an inteligent and open-minded guy, someone who is not suckered in by commericalism or alarmist media. If you asked me what people in Iran are like, I would probably say something about their Persian heritage, their hospitality, and their difficulties caused by being caught between theocracy and democracy. So why, I ask myself, do I find it surprising that one can buy Vimto in Iran? I think it is because Vimto is something I have grown up with in the UK and think of it as part of *my* culture (perhaps like Coca Cola might be to a US citizen). That is, in a sense I feel that I *own* the concept of Vimto. So the surprise is that I have something in common with people who are very diferent from me. "Oh?", I ask myself, "What is so different?". Here is the point: despite my rational mind saying that Iranians are human beings just like the rest of us, I find to my great alarm that I have a subconcious image of Iran as a country of dangerous medieval people with an alien mind-set who would slit my throat as soon as look at me. So the real reason why my eye was drawn to this bottle of Vimto is the surprise I could have anyhing in common with such people. This discovery makes me hang my head in shame. Thank you Payam for the opportunity to learn and be a better person.

this may not be the best source. A good book about it is "Critical Theory Today" by Lois Tyson.
I was wondering if you've studied and what might that have been? Really just out of curiousity (Posted 3 days, 8 hours ago by KXWM)

Yes, it is possible to capture a 360 using the gigapan. You can also capture a 360 with a panoramic head using a fisheye lens or a low focal length lens. The best focal length and the best method depend upon how far away the subject is from the camera. For a landscape scene with subjects that are far away, I would use a gigapan and a longer focal length lens. For something that is in close proximity, I would choose the other method. This software is capable of displaying a 360, but the viewing port will be large and the maximum field of view is not limited. So, you will not feel as though you are immersed in the environment. It just depends on what you are trying to do, and the viewing experience that you want people to have.
