Image taken from Sierra Point in Yosemite National Park as part of the "Yosemite Extreme Panoramic Imaging Project", http://www.xrez.com/yose_proj/Yose_index.html . This is one of 20 gigapixel images shot at the same moment in time to document the valley's vertical walls for the purpose of helping analyze hazardous rockfall for park geologist Greg Stock. Thanks go out to Randy Sargent of Gigapan for supporting the 20 shooting teams with Gigapan units, they performed flawlessly under pressure. Thanks also to the 50 volunteer photographers who participated in the shoot. This photograph was taken by Lee Frasier and Gabriel Soto Campa. The National Park Service was our partner in the project, and the images have already found use in analyzing the recent 10/08 rockfall above Camp Curry.
