360º panorama of garden.

(Banding visible in the wider view seems to be a camera/lens issue to be checked)

Hi Chris, Apparently that "banding" has a technical term - vignetting - and I've experienced it, too. I think you can get rid of much of it by reducing the field of view in the setup of the robotic unit, thus increasing the overlap between images. That seems to do the trick for me most of the time. It sucks that you need to take more images and stitching takes longer as a result, but if the vignetting is something you want to avoid it's probably worth the extra time and effort.

Sorry for delay in replying - trying to get other panoramas up and running! I'll try reducing the field of view in the Gigapan unit setup. I also had a good clean of the lens to make sure that it wasn't dirt at the edges. I'm used to vignetting on my dslr due to skylight filter and polarising filter, but this is the first time that I've been aware of shading at the sides of an image taken on my compact camera, and I think that the narrow, precise overlap accorded by the Gigapan unit and the Stitcher software accentuate something that isn't really visible on the individual images. So will trry your suggestion in the hope that the larger overlap will minimise the darker bands. Thanks
