I'm a Gigapan beginner and I made this picture to test the depth of field of my new Canon G10. The steel frame of the glass window helps to check the sharpness.
This gallery, by the way, is beautiful and next to the famous Grand'Place.

If you're looking for the hyperfocal distance of the G10 at full zoom, I did some experiments and came up with this technique: f/8, full zoom. Press the manual focus portion of the multi-controller to enter manual focus. The display changes to show a distance scale on the right. Unfortunately, the gradations on that scale are too coarse to be useful. Half-press the shutter button to focus on infinity, or just rotate the knurled portion of the multi-controller clockwise a few times to put the focus at infinity. Now rotate the knurled ring of the multi-controller counter-clockwise 6 clicks. At f/8, this still maintains acceptable (to me) sharpness at infinity, and focuses at about 80 feet (25 meters). Try it and see if it works for you. Tom
