Shot in a hurry because it was starting to rain and using a rifle grip instead of a tripod.
Unsurprisingly, there are a few stitching errors.

William McGonagall was inspired to verse on several occasions by Tay bridges. Are either of the ones in the picture successors to his?

The Tay Bridge Disaster - Beautiful Railway Bridge of the Silv'ry Tay! Alas! I am very sorry to say That ninety lives have been taken away On the last Sabbath day of 1879, Which will be remember'd for a very long time. This refers to the first Tay Rail Bridge. It's successor is on the left of the picture and the black stumps visible just to the camera side are the remnants of the original piers (see snapshot).

What about the left end of the bridge on the left? Is that part of the earlier bridge too? The brick arches are very different than the main part of the bridge.

Nope, the entire bridge was demolished and a completely new structure built. The only remnants are the stubs of the piers. If you go to Bing.com, search for Wormit then zoom in you can see the old bases parallel to the new structure. The different elements in the middle are to give increased clearance over the navigable channel.
