Overall, I'd say the focus looks much better on this version. What'd you do differently in each case, Paul?

I found my notes from a year ago: I shot this version (version 3) with autofocus, while versions 1 & 2 were shot with focus lock. I just made the other versions private, since they're generally blurrier. It would be interesting to re-try this panorama using a camera with better exposure control, or a lens&camera with better low light sensitivity. With a smaller aperture you'd get better depth of field and perhaps you could get everything in reasonable focus.

Nice panorama Paul. You don't know what you are missing until you open it up and explore. I would use a camera with a smaller sensor, but a good lens. If you increase the aperture value past a certian point you begin to lose detail to diffraction losses. The Canon G9 and G10 will actually focus bracket which would increase your DOF. You can use the freely available enfuse or tufuse to fuse the focus before stitching with the Gigapan stitcher. The G10 also has a remote shutter port which would allow you to trigger this camera electronically. It would use the same cord as the Canon Rebel DSLR models. We will hopefully have these cables soon to offer to everyone.

Thanks Stoney; focus bracketing sounds worth trying. Do you need electronic triggering, to do this with a Gigapan robot, or would a mechanical button pusher work, also?

The mechanical button pusher would work, but it would be better to use an electronic trigger cable.
