This GigaPan was taken a few moments before this other GigaPan was taken: http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=27758 Contrasts the bright sunlight in front (east view) versus the west view of Fondren and Brochstein Pavilion. |

Today I visited the University of Houston and took panoramas. In this one, we meet Belinda, who is in her final year.
This hand-held panorama was taken using a Canon SX 110 and was stitched using the GigaPan Stitcher software and additional details can be found on Stitcher Notes with information there concerning the GigaPan Stitcher run. Note: This panorama can be seen in Google Earth as a curved panorama on a curved surface by clicking the link, View in Google Earth (assuming that you have Google Earth installed on your computer). |

As I walked through Brochstein Pavillion to take a panorama of Herring Hall, guess who I ran into? Right... Rebecca from the Sally Ride GigaPan, http://gigapan.org/gigapans/11021/snapshots/30478/. She was in Brochstein reading and studying and told me that she graduated from Rice in May and has now gone on to Med School, but still studies at Rice. Anyway, we decided that we would take a panorama and what you see is the first result. The stitch was not perfect, but that is not a problem since she had great fun and I did too. There is another panorama taken of Rebecca today and can be seen at: http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/33656/ This hand-held panorama was taken by my trusty Nikon D70 with a new lens, the Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G. Additional details can be found on Stitcher Notes with information there concerning the GigaPan Stitcher run. Note: This panorama can be seen in Google Earth as a beautiful curved panorama on a curved surface by clicking the link, View in Google Earth (assuming that you have Google Earth installed on your computer). |

Because of the stitch, methinks I am a king :) My compliments to the Stitching Team... I was looking into bright sunlight as I took this series of photos and the result, to my eye, is a wonderful panorama... thanks. These flowers are in front of the Visitor's Center. Comprised of 16 hand-held photos taken with a Canon SX110. |

I attended this University at one time and all I can say is that it has really changed for the better. I would love to ride in this lap of luxury everyday! Where else here in the States can you be dropped off at the front door of a University? This is the last stop on the Redline MetroRail heading north. This MetroRail device will now travel south, through the city center, past Houston Community College, past Hermann Park, past Rice Rice University and continue to the end of the run past the Astrodome and the South Loop, all-in-all a total of 16 stations. The METRO Rail Redline Stations are identified in the following list: 1.) UH-Downtown 2.) Preston 3.) Main Street Square 4.) Bell 5.) Downtown Transit Center 6.) McGowan 7.) Ensemble/HCC 8.) Wheeler 9.) Museum District 10.) Hermann Park/Rice U 11.) Memorial Hermann Hospital/Houston Zoo 12.) Dryden/TMC 13.) TMC Transit Center 14.) Smith Lands 15.) Reliant Park 16.) This morning on my usual trip to Fondren Library, I was simply caught up in the combination beauty of light and shadows and this attempt at a 360 pano did not stitch properly, but can be overlooked in this case. The left side is the courtyard between Fondren and the Humanities Building. As one looks to the right, are the cloisters leading into the library. Through one of the arches, we see Anderson Hall, then Wiliam Marsh Rice Memorial, Herzstein Hall, Lovett Hall, Rayzor Hall and then the exit underneath the Humanities Building heading west.
The campus of Rice is so beautiful that everywhere you walk, there are spectacular views as what we enjoy here. |

The only reason that this is visible is for YOU to see it as a 360-degree panorama in Google Earth via the link :) |
