In a snapshot, a falcon is seen banking out of a turn to fly straight at this GigaPanographer. A few blocks away are a few swans, but I was not aware of any other bird types until I saw this beautiful bird in flight. Two words... big and amazing and I was able to capture it as this scene unfolded. Note: This panorama was stitched from 37 photos taken with a Nikon D70 and aNikkor 18-70mm kit lens. The overall focus could have been a tad better, but the photos themselves were NEF or RAW converted to 300 dpi JPG files and then stitched with Stitcher version 0.4.4087 with the result that in the *Thinking* snapshot you can easily see the bike wheel spokes at a good distance from the camera lens. |

Walking around the Texas Medical Center provides lots of surprises as well as nice moments when first meeting people on a common ground. Both happened today: the un-named statue and then meeting a very nice woman from Venezuela here in Houston doing her Residency. There are many panoramas as well as wonderful people to be found in the Texas Medical Center, Hermann Park and Rice University and today, I found both.
This hand-held panorama was taken with a Nikon D70, using a 50mm f/1.8 Nikkor lens. The sunlight was nil, but all-in-all, I am very pleased with this effort, especially not knowing at the time that the exposure was right-on the button. |

Looks quiet on a Tuesday afternoon, but evenings, especially on the weekends, major traffic delays because of all the stores and restaurants to the west. Across the street is Katz's, a deli, which serves fine blueberry blintzes.
Further to the east on Westheimer is South Main, a major traffic artery. Crime use to be a major problem in this area, but now because of the major police presence, crime, for the most part, has been controlled and the neighboorhood is now safe. |
