This is a big gigapan I shot on Saturday evening. It's a huge Gigapan and took 16 hours to stitch. 47 images wide X 23 images tall totaling 1081 images.
I missed some of the balloons on the first pass so I backed the unit up and reshot a section. The lighter background in the sky was caused when I readjusted the exposure during shooting. The sun was setting fast and light was fading. EDS Credit Union Plano Balloon Festival - Plano, Texas - September 19 - 21, 2008 http://www.planoballoonfest.org/fest-facts.html Enjoy the "Lofty Visions" as 70 magnificent, colorful, hot air balloons fill the skies over Plano Friday at 6:00pm, Saturday at 7:00am and 6:00pm, and Sunday at 7:00am and 6:00pm (weather permitting). Fun for all ages, are the Special Shapes that attend the festival. This year, the special shapes include: High Jack, Miss Daisy, Pandy the Panda, Oggy the Dragon, and Woodrow C. Greenleaf. |

The Swiss Air Force demonstration at the Ebenfluh Shooting Range,
mostly referred to as Axalp because of the nearby village, is a unique possibility to see jet fighters doing live gun shooting. Together with the impressive scenery the demo is an experience that one will never forget. The shooting range is located at an altitude of 7365 feet (2242m) in the middle of the Swiss Alps. Most impressive show is always the life fire demonstration were 6 -8 F-5E Tiger II of Fliegerstaffel 8 (FighterSquadron8) fly a defined course on up to 4 different targets located around the spectator area. This is followed by a similar demonstration of F-18C Hornets. You can even see the fire at the target area! This is a 360° panorama best viewed with Google Earth or here http://www.360cities.net/search/axalp |

A beautiful evening at the 2009 Bristol balloon fiesta saw over 90 balloons launched from Ashton Park. Great to see the piper flying again after many years. Spot the UP balloon with it's house underneath too. The tower is the camera obscura, the first panoramic viewer where you view the image projected through the periscope on a white dished horizontal table. Here is the last plane of the summer season of 2008-2009 at the South Pole. It is a Hercules LC-130, fondly called a "skier" or a "Herc" by the folks at the Pole. The LC-130's are the work horses of Antarctica, bringing fuel, supplies and mail to Pole. This plane will fly off in just a few minutes with the last half dozen folks left over from our summer crew, leaving only the winter crew members behind.
You can't help but notice all the cloudy material in this photograph. Some of it is water vapor produced by the power plant. But most of the cloud is from the plane. With temperatures in the -50's F, contrails have become a big problem. Late in October or early in November, we will see our next plane. Until then, there is no mail, no fuel delivery or supplies and no new people. Now we get to work to winterize the station and then, with everything put away, we will wait for sunset and 6 months of darkness. It is going to be a very interesting winter. The 23 images of this panorama were photographed with a Nikon D80 and stitched with Autopano Pro. |

A 360 of the crowd at the Perth round of the 2008 Red Bull Air Race series. I didn't actually mean to take a 360 but wasn't really paying attention to what I was pressing on the gigapan and I gave up trying to erase the half and quarter people, way too much movement. I also didn't put much fore-thought into the whole day, I just sat down where I could find a spot and took a few gigapan's. Maybe next year i will endeavour to get a higher vantage point. |

Modern Aircraft display, at the National Museum of the Air Force (formally the Air Force Museum) at Wright Patterson AFB (WPAFB), in Dayton Ohio. Summer 2009. Please help and identify as many of these aircraft as possible in snapshots. This is that last of four panaramics that I shot of the museum in August of 2009. I have gone to the museum often during my life and seen radical changes in the layout and location of the museum, from a single building in Area C of the base, they moved to a newly built hanger in Area A by the Wright Brother's Memorial in the 1970s. This has since expanded to two additional hangers and a missile hall, with a fourth hanger in the plans. They also have a presidentional annex hanger accross the flight line, that houses some old AF 1s and presidential helicopters, much to much to see in one day, so if you plan on visiting the sight, make sure that you give yourself a few days to really take in the sight. Most wonderful about it all, is that admission and parking at the museum is free. So support the museum. |

Each year up to 10,000 visiting aircraft - of all shapes, sizes and varieties - make Oshkosh the busiest airport in the world. This gigapan was shot Saturday morning. It only has a few bad spots in the stitching caused by people walking in front of the lens.
This shot includes: f-16 , falcon , f-15 , c5m galaxy , c-17 globemaster iii , c-130 , erickson sky crane , dc-3 named “duggy” , cv-2b caribou , p-51 mustang , a-10 thunderbolt , f4u corsair, e-2c hawkeye, ford tri-motor, b-17 flying fortress, pitts model 12, gulf stream to name a few. This was a fantastic event and had so many amazing aricraft new and old. I will be posting some videos from the event on youtube.com including the A380 taking off from Oshkosh 2009. I hope you enjoy and please email with comments! http://www.airventure.org/ |
