Exmouth is a port town and seaside resort in East Devon, England, sited on the east bank of the mouth of the River Exe. It has a population of around 33,000. Many of the landmarks can clearly be seen in the image, including the new RNLI lifeboat station, the Queen Victoria Diamond Jubilee Clock Tower and the national trust A La Ronde round house. This image is made up of 115 still photographs take with a Nikon D200 & Nikkor 300mm f/2.8mm lens, stitched together into a 2GB image. |

English Bay is located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, west of the downtown peninsula, which separates the bay from Burrard Inlet connecting to the northwest, and False Creek to the southeast. English Bay Beach, near the city's West End residential neighbourhood, is the most popular sunbathing, swimming, and sunset-watching beach in the downtown Vancouver area. Kitsilano Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Vancouver, especially in the warm summer months. Located at the north edge of the Kitsilano neighbourhood, the beach faces out onto Burrard Inlet . The beach is home to the longest swimming pool in Canada, the salt-water outdoor Kitsilano Pool.

This Ron English mural, titled "Abraham Obama", caused a bit of fuss here in Boston. Fans of the artist apparently plastered an excess of stickers in many locations. The mural was sponsored by and located across from Gallery XIV on Thayer street.

Stephanie was on her way to play her flute as a member of the Marching Owl Band, which plays at major sporting events and this afternoon there was an important volleyball match and after we took this GigaPan of her, she went over to Tudor Fieldhouse and rooted for the Rice Owls as they beats Tulsa 3-1 to win Conference USA Volleyball Championship!

Shillingstone railway station was a station in the English county of Dorset. It was located between Sturminster Newton and Blandford Forum stations on the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway (S&DJR), although for a while the next station south was Stourpaine and Durweston Halt. A passing place on stretch of single line, the station had two platforms with buildings on the up platform and a simple shelter on the down platform. There was a small goods yard and this and the passing loop were controlled from a signal box at the north end of the up platform.
The station was opened on the 31 August 1863 by the London and South Western Railway as part of the Dorset Central Railway. The station was transferred to the Southern Railway at the Grouping of 1923, becoming part of the Southern Region of British Railways when the railways were nationalised in 1947, the station was closed when the S&DJR closed on 7 March 1966.The station was staffed until its closure in March 1966. As at June 2009, 210 feet of the up main through the station was being laid and ballasted in on 113a flat bottom rail and wooden sleepers and Ruston Hornsby 0-4-0 diesel mechanical was scheduled to be moved from the isolated goods dock to the mainline by Antell's low loader, enabling the Long Marston southern green Mark 1 TSO coach to be brought into the dock for restoration. This will be the first standard gauge loco on the S&D mainline south of the mendips since the diesel demolition train departed in July 1967, exactly 42 years before! The south end up platform wall was being rebuilt and picnic area above landscaped by mini digger. Late summer projects include moving 92207 3 panels towards Bath and grading the down loop bed ready for terram weed proof matting and fresh ballast. work will also start on the motor trolley hut enabling the LMS society Wickham to be brought down from North Somerset. The future: Once the project proves itself to the council, an extension north to bridge 182 and south to the infilled gains cross or cliff bridge "rabbit cutting" will be applied for, creating a mile and three quarter railway. The ideal goal would be to have a ten mile S&D from Sturminster Newton new station to Blandford new station. |

Near the Newcastle Quayside this road called the Sandhill is where some of the oldest remaining houses of the Newcastle Quayside can be found. They date from the 16th (centre) to 18th (right) centuries and were once occupied by wealthy Newcastle merchants. Much of the older Quayside housing was lost due to a big fire which spread from the Gateshead quayside across the river, in 1854.
In the black & white house in the centre left of this panorama there once lived a girl called Bessie Surtees who in 1772 defied the wishes of her wealthy merchant father and secretly climbed from an upstairs window to elope with a humble young man called John Scott. Scott later become a wealthy peer, acquiring the baronry of Eldon near Bishop Auckland. In 1801 he became the Lord Chancellor of England. Lord Eldon's name lives on in Eldon Square, the modern commercial shopping centre of Newcastle upon Tyne. |
