First shot i've taken that I feel was worth the extra time to photoshop and make perfect, including everything from the Mercedes Benz shoot to the cars stopped in traffic on the West Side Highway. Also what I think is the first shot taken at this resolution of the new Highline Park that's just opened. Definitely the most time i've ever spent working on a single picture...pretty good view from here. Printing as big as I can as well. enjoy! |

A block 65cm by 45cm containing numerous fossil brittle starfish (too many to count) and some complete crinoids together with broken crinoid and starfish debris. This block contains a complex story about one point in time during the early part of the Jurassic, about 185 million years ago, when this part of the world was covered by a shallow, semi-tropical sea. These fossils were found near West Bay, Dorset by Sam Scriven, Earth Science Advisor for the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site Team in November 2009. Preparation (cleaning) by Alex Moore using air pens and air abrasive. |

Recently cleaned of several centuries of grime, the North Portal was constructed between 1210 and 1220. The overall Cathedral building project itself somehow survived a catastrophic fire in 1194 while the Cathedral was under construction (the Cathedral was begun in 1134 and finished almost 130 years later in 1260 --- think about that: likely five generations lived during the construction period!). The Cathedral's windows are famous as they are some of the oldest stained glass in Europe. I have, myself, done some stone-carving, and the embodied effort on display in the portal's sculptures --- all done with the simplest of hand tools --- is truly over-whelming! It's a tribute to all the anonymous carvers who participated. Although many of the figures have deteriorated over the centuries, the imagination and humour of these Medieval artisans still manages to capture attention and awe. |

Jonathan Minard and I went to Allegheny County Airport (AGC) in West Mifflin, PA to take a Gigapan of the building and runways. The airport is totally art-deco, and really beautiful inside--it's like a time capsule.
I think one of us shook the camera accidentally on this one, so there may be "jiggles" in it, especially around the straight lines (runway lines, the light pole, etc.) |

Amazing... I was not trying to do a 360, but looks like I now have my first :)
