La Colonia Tovar fue fundada en 1.843, por el Coronel Agustín Codazzi y Alexander Benitz, ubicada en el estado Aragua, a 35 kilómetros de la ciudad de La Victoria y a 42 kilómetros de la capital Caracas. Tres años antes, el día 17 de Septiembre de 1840, el Gobierno venezolano durante el segundo período del Gobierno del General José Antonio Páez autorizó a un contingente de familias, en su mayoría alemanas, a establecerse en este hermoso y alto valle donde nace el río Tuy, y hacer de él su morada definitiva y la de sus descendientes, uniendo su futuro al de Venezuela. Más del 90% de la inmigración original de la Colonia Tovar provino de la región de Kaiserstuhl, dentro del Gran Ducado de Baden, situado al suroeste de Alemania, conservando su gastronomía, tradiciones y arquitectura; es estar en Alemania sin cruzar el Atlántico.
La Colonia Tovar was founded in 1843 by Colonel Agustin Codazzi and Alexander Benitz, located in Aragua state, 35 kilometers from the city of La Victoria and 42 kilometers from the capital Caracas. Three years earlier, on September 17th, 1840, the Venezuelan government during the second period the government of General José Antonio Páez authorized a quota of families, mostly German, to settle in this beautiful high valley where the river Tuy born, and make it his permanent abode and their descendants, linking their future to that of Venezuela. Over 90% of the original immigration came from Colonia Tovar of the Kaiserstuhl region, within the Grand Duchy of Baden, located southwest of Germany, while retaining its gastronomy, traditions and architecture, is to be in Germany without crossing the Atlantic.
