This is on the U of A campus. What is showing here is most of one side of the event. Lots of authors signing, lots of stuff for kids, lots of people, and, in this panorama, lots of ghosts, shadows, and half people. |

Gigapan of the Bill Williams River, Arizona. Taken one week following a 3000 cfs flood release from Alamo Dam. Before the dam was built, the Bill Williams would occasionally convey more than 25 times that discharge. The river is now an important riparian corridor with a complex mosaic of alluvial surfaces that reflect a complex history of regulated flow conditions. |

My firend who has lived in Tucson most of his life tells me this is an impact crater. I had always thought it was excavated for some of the older houses, which still show volcanic rock as foundations. Any thoughts from your rock hounds? |

The view north from Airport Road. Hand-held, single row of pictures with Canon XTi set at 39mm. |

My first attempt at a small mosaic. Have to learn to walk before I try and run.
Canyon Lake is located in the Superstition Mountains and is a popular recreation area due to its proximity to Phoenix |

This is taken from where all the communication towers are located. Of course today, when I stayed home, was a much more clear day. Oh, well, it's always great to be up there. |

Last year at this time I took a pano of this same waterfall as water was being released due to winter rains: http://gigapan.org/gigapans/18848/. This year, once again, heavy rain has forced another release, although this year they lowered the inflated dam quite a bit to nearly empty the lake a couple of weeks ago. At this time, it has filled up again, but there is still quite a bit of runoff from the mountains and water is still being released, so the hundreds of riparian birds in the photo are quite happy. Directly across the river is the Tempe Center for the Arts. To the left are the high-rise office and condos of Hayden Ferry Landing, "A-mountain," Hayden Flour Mill, USAirways HQ and the ASU campus. Due to the varying cloud cover and having to shoot in the direction of the sun, some areas are too dark while others are just right. |

This is a site in southeastern Arizona that is being treated to remove mesquite that has invaded this former grassland. The treatments include aerially applied chemicals that are being tested through a cooperative project including the rancher, the University of Arizona, and Dow Chemical. |
