These gardens are located next to a water reservoir that serves the Washington, DC metropolitan area in Maryland. Someone had the foresight to plant hundreds of these shrubs back in the 1940's. Today they are a two week spectacle for all to enjoy.
I used an old Nikon Coolpix 5700 with telephoto lens attachment. It is a 5 Megapixel camera that gives an effective focal length of 270 MM when used with the telephoto lens. The reason I used this camera is that I can take bracketed shots for creating HDR photographs. I tried doing this but I was unhappy with the results. This photograph represents 65 photos. |

The day that these were taken concludes Willy Week and the highlight are (1) the Beer Bike Parade, and (2) the Beer Bike Race. What we see in this scrapbook GigaPan are panoramas of the preparation to the Parade. The top two panoramas (illustrating peace and serenity, which is typically normal) were taken about 30 minutes before the College trucks pulled up prior to the Parade start. The third panorama was taken before the water balloons were placed on the truck, As soon as I finished taking this pano, the truck took the bikes to the stadiuim and then returned to load up the ballons. The fourth pano is that of the Rice Medical Corp who are there to treat wounds and save lives. We also see three trucks with students who hand out the water ballons to members of their Colleges who then try their best to assualt the other College students with these weapons of mass destruction. The remaining pano is that of the "vicious" security people who keep things under control. Later, another GigaPan will be U/L that will show actual photos of the Beer Bike Parade, which may be too *hot* for some.
Note: All of the above panoramas were taken with a Leica D-Lux 3, hand-held, and then stitched with the GigaPan Stitcher software and finally compiled as seen using PhotoShop CS. Taken on the South Lawn of the Museum of Fine Arts.
A beautiful day and a beautiful view of the Azaleas. A view in Google Earth is required to pass this course :) Note: Other than my four Azalea GigaPans, there is one very beautiful and extraordinary Azalea GigaPan and can be seen here: http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=22862. |

The curved roof becomes straight when observed in Google Earth and the Azeleas look magnificant as well.

The exposure may be off some, but the Azaleas look terrific. To be fully appreciated, this needs to be seen in Google Earth via the link.
This is one of several in my "Azalea Trail Series." Note: Other than my four Azalea GigaPans, there is one very beautiful and extraordinary Azalea GigaPan and can be seen here: http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=22862. |
