Chesil Beach is one of the finest barrier beaches in the World and forms part of the Dorset and East Devon 'Jurassic Coast' World Heritage Site.
The beach stretches some 28km west from Portland to West Bay. The pebbles are famously graded from cobbles here at Portland, to pea sized gravel at West Bay. Behind the beach lies the village of Chiswell, Portland harbour, where the 2012 sailing Olympics will take place, and the Fleet Lagoon which is important for its wildlife both above and below the water. The beach has withstood the forces of the sea for thousands of years but is occasionally over topped by storms and is slowly moving on shore and loosing its volume. One bay it will break up but when? |

Palamós is a town and municipality in the Mediterranean Costa Brava, located in the comarca of Baix Empordà, in the province of Girona, Catalonia, Spain.
Palamos was founded and recognised as a village on 3 December 1279 by 'Pere el Gran', 'Comte de Barcelona' (Peter III of Aragon). He wanted to found a new port on the coast as the previous royal port in the region at Torroella de Montgrí on the River Ter had silted up. Palamós is situated at the northern end of a large bay, which is popular for swimming, sailing and windsurfing. The town is by-passed by the C31 which connects the coastal towns of the central Costa Brava with Girona. Palafrugell lies 8.5 km to the north and Castell-Platja d'Aro 7 km to the south. The town is a major port (with the closure of Sant Feliu the only commercial harbour in the Province of Girona) with one of the last remaining fishing fleets on this part of the mediterranian coast. It is famous for the locally caught prawns (Gambes). In the picture the "new" or relatively recent pleasure harbour. |

Known to most Arizonans as "Rocky Point," this beautiful, endless stretch of beach offers a cool respite for "Zonies" trying to escape the furnace. Las Conchas is a private community of beach homes and condominiums. Great fresh seafood, especially shrimp, is available right off the boat in the old town. |

The Isar provides the power supply for Munich, it is a recreation area for Munich, it invites for walks, hikes, inline skating, bicycle riding…There is always something to do along the Isar. The little islands and the pebble banks shift and change each year – but the Isar remains the same – the vital artery of Munich.
On the left side is the entrance to the Zoo "Tierpark Hellabrunn" where I made several other panoramas: http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=21052 http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=21410 http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=20953 Panorama made of 398 pictures at focal length of 400mm. |

Chesil Beach is a beautiful shingle structure- it's composed of gorgeous, rounded chert and flint stones that feel fabulous under foot. It is incredibly straight and long and just a joy to behold. |

This is a "time lapse snapshot" of a disc golf tournament in Huntington Beach, California. Disc golf is like regular golf, but uses frisbees instead of balls and clubs. The holes are metal baskets with chains designed to catch the discs. For more info, check out www.pdga.com.
For this panorama, I took shots of many different players driving, putting, and walking the course over a 2 hour period. Then I overlayed the action shots on the gigapan image, creating what I'm calling a "time lapse snapshot" of the final round (18 holes) of the open division at the tournament. |

Sutro Baths, the newly renovated Cliff House and Seal Rock (yes, there are seals on the rocks) in San Francisco on a very windy day.
Same area, different perspective: http://gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=27665 View from the other side of the mountain: http://gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=27659 Here's a link to what Sutro Baths used to look like. http://www.alamedainfo.com/postcards_of_san_francisco_3.htm Notice the buildings, the trams, the statues, etc. There used to be a place where there were roller coasters, other rides, and arcades at Playland. It was quite an exciting area. Today you see...well, what you see in my pictures. |
