Taking a pano on a bouncy bridge: ungood. |

This 140° panorama rounds out my panos of the St. Anthony Falls area of the Mississippi River. It shows the Stone Arch Bridge, the University of Minnesota's Streamlab water research facility, a power plant and some grain elevators. It was taken from the Guthrie Theater's "Endless Bridge," a huge cantilevered balcony.

The Howrah Bridge is a bridge that spans the Hooghly River in West Bengal, India. It was originally named the New Howrah Bridge because it links the city of Howrah to its twin city, Kolkata (Calcutta). On 14 June 1965 it was renamed Rabindra Setu, after Rabindranath Tagore a great poet and the first Indian Nobel laureate. However it is still popularly known as the Howrah Bridge.
The bridge is one of three on the Hooghly River and is a famous symbol of Kolkata and West Bengal. Apart from bearing the stormy weather of the Bay of Bengal region, it successfully bears the weight of a daily traffic of approximately 150,000 vehicles and 4,000,000 pedestrians. It is the sixth longest bridge of its type in the world. ************************************************************** Please contact Shashi Mettu at + 00-91-98495-30995 for Prints / Enlargements and Busssiness enquiries ************************************************************* |

This is the Belle Island Pedestrian Bridge and part of the Richmond Virginia skyline.
The pedestrian bridge is tucked under the Robert E. Lee Bridge, which is the span of Route 1 over the James River. It is surrounded by interesting things to see, like trains, the piling of the old Robert E. Lee Bridge and river rocks and rapids. Belle Island is a great place to spend an afternoon. Although there are some steep trails for dirt bikes and more seasoned hikers, the footpath around the island is gentle enough for novice and less ambitious walkers. I was impressed with the country setting nestled among the buildings and highways of the State Capital. Matt, thank you for showing me this place and for helping me make this panorama of a view with two moons. |

This was a fully automatic shoot with the GigaPanBot from the balcony at FAMU (University of Film and Photography), Prague during the panotools meeting.
On the right hand side: Prague Castle (Czech: Pražský hrad) where the Czech kings, Holy Roman Emperors and presidents of Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic have had their offices. The Czech Crown Jewels are kept here. Prague Castle is one of the biggest castles in the world (according to Guinness Book of Records the biggest ancient castle [1]) at about 570 meters in length and an average of about 130 meters wide. St. Vitus's Cathedral which is the largest and the most important church in Prague. Apart from divine services the coronations of Czech kings and queens also took place in it. The remains of provincial patron saints, sovereigns, noblemen and archbishops are interred here. The Charles Bridge is only partially visible, but you can have a better view on the Charles Bridge here: http://gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=7648 In the middle on top of the Petrin Hill you can see the Lookout Tower - Prague's Eiffel Tower. 299 stairs to climb in order to get on top of the 60 meters high tower on Petrin Hill. There is a cable-railway leading on top of the hill if you don't want to climb the hill. On the left hand side the Most Legii Bridge, from there you can have a beautiful view on the Caste and the Charles Bridge. 6 rows of each 66 images @ focal length of 600mm with Zuiko lens (70-300) and Olympus E-520 at ISO 200, F8, 1/640 |

Well first the bad news - the long exposures necessary for this panorama have resulting in camera shake and movement - partly due possibly to the Anti Shake / Image Stabiliser (IS) system on the camera (never too good mixing IS and tripods), and partly due to the Gigapan button pusher mechanism. However, I've uploaded it for the time being as it gives a good example of the beautiful Quayside area of Newcastle Gateshead at night. Probably best looked at without zooming in too much!! |

Can we say COLD! Considering the weather I'm surprised how many people were around while I was at this spot taking pictures. Some of them were even adventuresome enough to run out to the bridge to take pictures. But I was the only one crazy to stick around for long.
To the left you might see bits of Lower Pines campground. To the right is North Pines campground. If the storm clouds weren’t there you’d be able to see Yosemite Falls off in the distance above the river. |
