spacer In Trego County, Kansas, the Smoky Hill River has been dammed to form Cedar Bluff Reservior. This view shows the spillway and downstream areas along the Smoky Hill River. The day was a nice one, but spring has not quite sprung in this part of Kansas. In a few weeks things will green up a little and outdoor GigaPan photography will be much more enticing. Alas, Kansas will still be flatter than a pancake...

spacer At the end of Hat Point this tree has stood for hundreds of years, growing out of a rock and buffeted by severe Lake Superior storms. The first written account of the 'Spirit Tree' was back in the 1731 by a French explorer. It is believed the tre was mature at the time making the 'Spirit Tree' 300 years old. This is a sacred site to the Ojibwe people whose reservation is where the 'Spirit Tree' lives.
