I drive by this place about twice a month. As far as buffet chinese food it's hit-or-miss, but the building is among the more striking (at least at night) when coming out of Houston along I-45. |

An oasis in the city, Nan Ling Gardens is a Buddhist park open to the public, providing some of the most tranquil scenes in the city. It is attached to the Chi Lin Nunnery, which has more limited hours. Both are must-sees for any stay in Hong Kong longer than a few days. It is one of my favourite spots in the world. This panorama was taken with 30 5-megapixel images on a D50 digital camera using a Nikkor 50mm 1.8 lens (at F/8) |

Every year at the Chinese Garden in Montreal's Botanical Gardens, Chinese Lanterns from Shanghai are set up on display. 2008's theme was "A Thousand and One Stars" featuring displays related to Chinese performing arts and acrobatics.
The garden itself was conceived and constructed in 1990-91 under the direction of Le Weizhong and was a joint project of the Parks Department of Shanghai and the Montreal Botanical Gardens. The garden design was inspired by the private gardens popular in Southern China during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 BCE). This hand-held panorama was taken during the daytime on a rainy October day --- at night the colourful lanterns come alive with the "Dream Lake" animating the scene with many reflections.
