Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin, Germany
The Gendarmenmarkt is a square in Berlin, and the site of the Konzerthaus and the French and German Cathedrals. The centre of the Gendarmenmarkt is crowned by a statue of Germany's poet Friedrich Schiller. The square was created by Johann Arnold Nering at the end of the seventeenth century as the Linden-Markt and reconstructed by Georg Christian Ungerin 1773. The Gendarmenmarkt is named after the cuirassier regiment Gens d'Armes, which was deployed at this square until 1773. During World War II most of the buildings were badly damaged or destroyed. Today all the buildings are restored to their former state. (From Wikipedia article.) 70696x21574 pixels, 275 (25x11) images, Canon G9 @ 200 mm equiv., LR 2.3 RC1, GP Stitcher 0.4.3864. |

A massive expansion of St. Louis's City Museum, featuring more slides and the infamous overhanging bus that rankled the city so much in the 1990s. More found objects from all over the city are here; the camera is positioned on a dome from the old St. Louis Planetarium, the mantis is familiar to people who used to drive along I-44 in those days. http://www.citymuseum.org/ |
