My second image of this day. A sunny Southern California Sunday on the beach south of the Redondo Beach Pier. On this Sunday afternoon the annual Redondo Beach Kite Festival gave kite flyers a perfect breeze and a beautiful day. 85 images using Nikon Coolpix P5100, 12mp. |

Overview of Main volleyball court. Cheering crowds, final game of the 2009 AVP Manhattan Beach Open Beach Volleyball Tournament. The 'Wimbledon' of beach Volleyball. Beach Volleyball got its start on the sands of Manhattan Beach. This is #3 of my little AVP Manhattan Beach Open 2009 vingnette. Not meant for moving objects, the GigaPan allows peoples bodies to do many strange things (some of which I have removed, can you see where?). 80 Gigapan images, Nikon P5100, copyright John Post |

Each year up to 10,000 visiting aircraft - of all shapes, sizes and varieties - make Oshkosh the busiest airport in the world. This gigapan was shot Saturday morning. It only has a few bad spots in the stitching caused by people walking in front of the lens.
This shot includes: f-16 , falcon , f-15 , c5m galaxy , c-17 globemaster iii , c-130 , erickson sky crane , dc-3 named “duggy” , cv-2b caribou , p-51 mustang , a-10 thunderbolt , f4u corsair, e-2c hawkeye, ford tri-motor, b-17 flying fortress, pitts model 12, gulf stream to name a few. This was a fantastic event and had so many amazing aricraft new and old. I will be posting some videos from the event on youtube.com including the A380 taking off from Oshkosh 2009. I hope you enjoy and please email with comments! http://www.airventure.org/ |

In 1987 the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco turned 50 years old.
The Golden Gate Bridge was closed to traffic in the morning so pedestrians would have a chance to stroll across the bridge as they did 50 years before when the bridge first opened to the public. What ended up happening was an unexpected amount of people showing up. No strolling took place. This panorama was taken to show the vast amount of people that showed up that morning. Note, if you look at the areas in front of the first tower you'll notice the bridge is pretty level. This isn't normal. The road usually bows upward, but the weight of the people on the bridge caused the road to flatten out. Nobody was in danger as the bridge wasn't about to collapse. This panorama was obviously taken before digital cameras and way before Gigapan was a glimmer in the eyes of NASA. Unfortunately I used a slow shutter speed (1/125) on my Nikon FE (50mm lens) to capture the people as they moved along, hence the blurry faces. However, the picture definitely shows the chaos and the massive crowd that came to celebrate. Needless to say I don't think they'll be doing this in 2012 when the bridge hits its 75th anniversary. |

This is #3 of my New Years Eve shots. Every New Years Eve the City of Hermosa Beach has live music on the Promenade and crowds gather to bring in the New Year. The low lighting conditions can make for some difficult exposures for the camera, especially as the batteries get low. Nikon P5100, 40 shots, ©John Post |

A shot looking down at the crowd of several thousand people at the 105th annual Norge Ski Jump competition in Fox River Grove, Illinois. The jump is part of the official ski jump circuit. This event featured members of the Visa American Women's team, jumpers from Russia, Finland, Poland and more. Some of the Olympic teams sent members here to avoid down time. Before the event was over, this crowd doubled in size! The hill features three different jumps – the largest can be seen clearly from high-altitude photos. The Norge program produces some of the best jumpers in the United States, including olympians. As a side note - the Olympics BANS women from competition in the ski jump event. That's why you won't see any women at the 2010 Olympic Ski Jumping. How antediluvian is that? |

Here is a second much smaller Oshkosh WI Air show panoramic. The one on the left was shot from the Canon viewing stand.
It includes: Airbus A380, F-16, Virgin Galactic “Eve” Mothership, Erickson sky crane , dc-3 named “duggy” , cv-2b caribou , p-51 mustang, just to name a few. This was a fantastic event and had so many amazing aricraft new and old. I will be posting some videos from the event on youtube.com including the A380 taking off from Oshkosh 2009. I hope you enjoy and please email with comments! Each year up to 10,000 visiting aircraft - of all shapes, sizes and varieties - make Oshkosh the busiest airport in the world.
