spacer This is a repeat of http://gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=28840 with improved optical technology (a 25 year old lens bought on ebay).

Notes: Photos were taken with an old Nikkor 300mm f/4.5 AI-s lens (450mm equiv.) at f/16, 1/60 second, ISO 200, More Vivid, NEF. Lightroom was used for devignetting (+6, 25), vibrance (+20), and saturation (+20).

spacer Looking west toward the Adirondack Mountains and the Palisades on the New York side of Lake Champlain. This is the lake's steepest, most pristine, and maybe most picturesque stretch of shoreline. The sheer cliffs extend 100 feet above the water, and another 140 feet below it. This morning saw the first frost for most of the Champlain Valley, and a layer of cold air over the warmer lake water created the conditions for a mirage (cooler, denser air above warmer air). The mirage is evident where the shoreline is most distant.

Notes: I used a Nikon D40 with a Nikkor 300mm f/4.5 AI-s lens at f/8, 1/500 second, ISO 200, NEF. 35mm equiv is 450mm. Two second shutter delay initiated by wireless remote. Field of view set to 3 degrees. Photos were de-vignetted and punched up a bit before stitching.

spacer The Addison County Fair and Field Days is the largest agricultural fair in Vermont.

I thought this one might fool the stitcher. Many thanks to the GigaPan Stitcher Team.

Notes: I used an old Nikkor 105mm lens. There is no metering, so the EXIF data (and stitcher notes) are incomplete, but it is a real lens, not one of those newfangled plastic zoomy things.

As the sun set and I took four panoramas from the same location, I changed ISO, color preset, shutter speed, and f-stop, and mostly lost track of the changes.
I think this one used ISO 400, Vivid, 1/320sec, and about f/14.

Notes: I used an old Nikkor 105mm lens. There is no metering, so the EXIF data (and stitcher notes) are incomplete, but it is a real lens (big, heavy, and 35 years old).

I think this one used ISO 800, More vivid, 1/100 sec, and about f/5.6

spacer The Salisbury Town Forest was originally designated as the town's school lot, and early in the 19th century one of the first schools in town was built near the lot's western border. Parts of the dry laid stone foundation have survived two centuries of freeze-thaw cycles and decades of garbage dumping. A large white pine is rooted in one side of the foundation, and other white pines have colonized what was once the school yard. A black birch grows from the cellar's floor.

Elevation: 165 m (535 ft), Camera location from GPS: N43 56.303 W73 05.980

This GigaPan can be viewed in its geographic context here: http://conservation.townofsalisbury.org/panoramas/townforest/index.htm

Notes: I used a Nikon D40 with Nikkor P C 105mm f/2.5 lens at f/32, ISO 200, NEF. 35mm equiv is 157mm. Shutter speed was altered between 0.5 (top 2 rows) and 0.8 (bottom 2 rows) seconds. Two second shutter delay was initiated by wireless remote. Field of view set to 9.8 degrees. Exposure, color balance, vibrance, and saturation of photos were tweaked in Lightroom before outputting jpegs for stitching.

spacer The Addison County Fair and Field Days is the largest agricultural fair in Vermont.

Notes: I used an old Nikkor 105mm lens. Focus is manual, there is no metering, and the EXIF data includes no lens information (so stitcher notes are incomplete), but it is a real lens with real depth of field and real resolution.

This one used ISO 400, Vivid, 1/400sec, and about f/8.

spacer Completed in 2004 with three one acre floors, it has 725 study seats, enough for 30% of the student enrollment. Sustainable materials such as linoleum (a 19th century English invention made from linseed oil) and certified lumber (loggers must bathe once per week) are used throughout. The library it replaced was built in 1900 (now that's sustainable). One percent of all campus construction cost is dedicated to public art, including the very yellow mural by Matt Mullican (http://www.middlebury.edu/arts/capp/mural/mural.htm).

Notes: I tried stitching this with the "larger blending region" option to smooth out the blocky sky. It did that beautifully, but also bled the interior light excessively onto the exterior walls.
