This is a big gigapan I shot on Saturday evening. It's a huge Gigapan and took 16 hours to stitch. 47 images wide X 23 images tall totaling 1081 images.
I missed some of the balloons on the first pass so I backed the unit up and reshot a section. The lighter background in the sky was caused when I readjusted the exposure during shooting. The sun was setting fast and light was fading. THIS IS MY FIRST EVER GIGAPAN: The Royal Burgh Standard Bearer James Cheyne casts the Burgh Flag at the culmination of the Common Riding festivities followed by six other standard bearers. The one on this photo is Hammerman Jason Hendrie. (sorry Jason you moved between shots). The Burgh Standard bearer represents the one man (Fletcher) who returned to the town after the Battle of Flodden in 1513, bringing with him an English flag. The ceremony is preceded by one of the largest horse and rider cavalcades in Europe ( up to 600 horses have taken part some years) They leave the town, led by the Standard Bearer, at 7 am and ride the boundaries of the town land, returning at the entrance to Selkirk and then marching behind the bands to the town centre for this moving ceremony. Shot from 8:27P to 8:32P we were lucky to get it completed before Dave Matthews came on stage. If he would have come on stage 3 minutes earlier we would have been cut off half way thru and missed half this panorama.

A beautiful evening at the 2009 Bristol balloon fiesta saw over 90 balloons launched from Ashton Park. Great to see the piper flying again after many years. Spot the UP balloon with it's house underneath too. The tower is the camera obscura, the first panoramic viewer where you view the image projected through the periscope on a white dished horizontal table. This 360 panorama was taken at 2x33 to minimize edge effect. This was taken at the southeast corner of Buckingham Fountain on the last day of the taste of Chicago Festival, which ends on the 4th of July weekend. |

Addison Oktoberfest 2008 - September 18 - 21, 2008
I shot this yesterday evening on the first day of Addison's Octoberfest. It was still a little early so not many people are around. The guy in the suit with all the medals showed up after I shot the GigaPan so I backed the robot up and reshot him. My friend Joe has a new GigaPan also and we set his up and shot as well. You can see his gigapan unit on the far left. This GigaPan is 7 images high and 63 images wide, 441 total images. Tomorrow I shoot a Balloon Festival, so check back in a few days. Please bookmark this image if you like it or leave me a comment. http://www.addisontexas.net/events/Oktoberfest/ More than 60,000 fans of polka, German food and Paulaner Bier will gather in Addison?s spectacular Addison Circle Park for four days of music, folk dancing, sing-alongs, children?s entertainment and more. Addison?s four-day, authentic German festival is one of the largest Oktoberfest festivals outside of the famed Munich celebration. |

Every year there is a crazy gathering nearby a little village in the North of Belgium. Thousands of music lovers gathers for a few days of the largest Carribean Festival in the world.
I'm not one of them ;-) But what I saw was impressive. A very large camping ground filled with little tents. Music and barbeques everywhere. Check out their website and be there next year ... http://www.antilliaansefeesten.be/nl/index.html A friend was staying at the festival. Having the time of his life. Taking hundreds of pictures and handing out cards to everyone shot http://www.latinnet.nl . I was joining him for a few hours with my camera. When we neared a watchtower for the firebrigade he was not shy in asking the guys if I could go ut there to make a 360 panorama. I myself was firstly too shy to ask and more importantly still checking out the wobly ladder reaching up to that platform. As I would have to climb up there holding a camera, tripod and a gigapan robot. But I did ... and here is the result ... could have been better, but under the pressure ;-) |
