Just to the left of the original "snow pan" (http://gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=5754), noticed some graffiti left by visitors (skiers, probably).
Took a small pan of the names and then tacked it on to the left of the original. Came out pretty well (I think!) - I can't tell where the two pans were put together. |

A view of the University of Arizona Mall looking west toward Old Main. Taken on a Sunday during the summer at noon when the only people crazy enough to be out when it was 110 degrees were me and a couple of half people.

From the Devil Canyon overlook, looking north along the main channel of Bighorn Canyon.
If I remember the stratigraphy correctly, the top layer of the canyon is formed from the Madison Limestone, which is over 350 million years ago - same age and similar in appearance to the Redwall Limestone that makes up part of the sequence in the Grand Canyon (although not the rim, as this is exposed here). |

Kokia rockii is a synonym for Kokia drynarioides and Kokia kauaiensis, close relatives in the Hibiscus family. Both species are endemic to Kauai, and both are on the IUCN list of endangered species.
ref: Manual of the Flowering Plants of Hawai`i, Volume 1, p.890. Warren L. Wagner, Derral R. Herbst, and S. H. Sohmer, University of Hawaii Press, Bishop Museum Press, Honolulu 1990 This gigapan was stitched with the GigaPan stitcher, with post processing in PhotoShop CS2. I used Aperture priority exposure by mistake, instead of manual exposure. Auto focus was also used. This 8C x 15R macropanorama totally confounded APPro 1.4.2, and Giga APPro 1.9 Alpha, probably due to the monochromatic background. |

The 4 ft x 16 ft 'easel' is curved to a 10 ft radius. The GigaPan is on the centerline 10 ft above. The results of this shoot can be seen at:
