View of the Tetons from Oxbow Bend - the Snake River visible in the foreground, the Tetons in the far ground.
(There's a rather famous Ansel Adams photo that's taken from near this location. It's almost as if all photographers feel a subconscious urge to take a photo at this spot, I think...) |

Lotic riparian area in northern Arizona. Camera settings were to accommodate conditions in the drainage and the gray striping is caused by moving clouds.
Of note: willows in the downstream reach (right side of image) and lack of willows upstream (left side of image) |

Some interesting lighted sculpture at Phipps. The lights in the background are from the city itself.
From reading other pan descriptions of the same art piece, the green balls apparently represent the Volvox structure (I'm not a biologist, and I can't remember what that is, though.) |

One of the model train setups in this part of Phipps - with conveniently timed moving train (the timing did work out really well - the train came around just as the GigaPan moved to the next column....) |

First in a series of pans of exposures of the Talcott basalt (early Jurassic age, ~200 million years old) in Meriden, CT
Pillow basalts form when lava is erupted underneath water (typically oceans, but in this case a briny lake). The water quickly cools the outside of the lava, but the inside is still pushing outwards (like blowing up a balloon, almost). Each one of the round-ish structures here is one of these pillows. View of Santa Catalina Mountains north of Tucson, Arizona. This is the west end of the range and was taken to document Buffelgrass on the slopes.

Lotic riparian area in Northern.Arizona. The gray banding is caused by clouds. Overall, the image appears overexposed, this was intentional as the camera settings were chosen to match the channel corridor.

A wider view of the I-10 fly over, or mix master, in Houston, TX. Sorry for weird exposure, I fought the clouds and the clouds won! |
