Mendocino is a culturally and physically colorful place along the North Coast of California. This private garden is in the front yard of a house tucked in between the galleries and shops along the seafront walk arcross from the Headland Park. |

Since the first image of this garden was made on July 10 (http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=28793), my efforts here have been applied mostly to weeding, mulching, and eating. Normally we would be entering the most delightful three month season of fresh produce, but this year the late blight (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/29/dining/29toma.html) has killed all of the tomatoes (32 plants of 4 varieties), so it will be an impoverished season. The blight is the same one that caused the Great Famine in Ireland (1845-1852), although I am not yet contemplating starvation or emigration. My potatoes appear to be mostly unaffected, but the fungus-like pathogen might rot the tubers in storage.
Notes: Autofocus was called for, so I monitored the imager and intervened when autofocus failed and a photo was not taken in time (My attention waned and I had to recreate one missed photo.). Also, the kid does not have a twin, or two basketballs. |

This is three in a series of five panoramas taken in the Japanese Garden, and all can be viewed via this link: http://tinyurl.com/msqdnq.
When visiting this place, it is easy to access from the parking areas in Hermann Park, especially those on the north side, close to the museums. These panoramas do not need my words to describe their beauty except to say that there are a couple more that are better than what we see in these five and those will be taken when I have blue sky and my robot to take a GigaPan. |

The weather delayed this Gigapan until the Sunday afternoon of the festival but it was worth the wait to capture a great afternoon in the beautiful Larmer Tree lawns! This was around 3pm - on the Main Stage is The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, and setting up on the Garden Stage is the Zong Zing All Stars (Soukous music from The Democratic Republic of Congo). You might also spot a few interesting remnants from Fancy Dress Saturday... and a muddy boot or two! There are a couple of stitching errors that I am aware of which I hope to fix very soon. |
