I started to see where I was in much the same way I see a lot of other beautiful, flawed things, in that many of the same problems that condemned this place were exactly what made it that much more valuable an opportunity demanding to be seized. HDR, tonemapped in Photomatix. Completely unretouched otherwise except for very minor color correction and cropping (more for printing than anything else). Essentially my first perfect stitch; thankful I picked up the G11 for proper nodal point alignment, even if the Gigapan Pro comes out next month. Limited edition archival run of 10 roughly 30" x 90" prints. ...no, it wasn't an Insane Asylum (as the myth goes)-- just a Nuke missle site from the Cuban Missle Crisis era, decommissioned in 1979. This is an old elevated rail line that runs through lower Manhattan. It has been converted into a park and this view is from 17th street looking north. The scene was very high contrast, with white buildings in direct sun on the left side, and old dark red brick buildings in the shadow on the right side. I set the exposure to the street, but the white building are over exposed. |

Independent academic project created by Propel Andrew Street High School 11th grader Ally Angulo. The photo was taken on the roof of Andrew Street High School, in Munhall, PA. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately, because it makes for an interesting picture!) it was incredibly windy on this wintry February day. What better to do on a snowy Friday than to climb on the roof of the school and take the mannequin, and her arms, for a photo shoot! |

This GigaPan (# 1 of three) was taken Jan. 18, 2008 on a balmy day in LA. I wanted to get a shot of the new building going up near the Staples Center in downtown before it was completed on the outside. I found this vantage point with the palm trees, which I think gives a nice environmental setting. You can see cars on the Harbor Freeway (110 Hwy) and the mural on one of the buildings next to it. My second gigapixel HDR image. Spent a lot of time photoshopping fast-moving details such as the cop car and a people so that very few HDR artifacts remain. Again a lot of work but really happy with the result. Enjoy! |

This is a small gigapan I shot on saturday morning. I have another from saturday evening with thousands of people in it. It's a huge GigaPan and is taking a very long time to stitch.

The Reflective Images, Living Walls project is the largest mural the Ali’i Creations has ever created throughout its 15-year history. The project which spans the lobby of the gym measures 77’x 10’ and was completed using acrylic paint. The six-panel mural traces each important chapter in the history of the Northern Mariana Islands beginning with the pre-contact period, followed by images of the Spanish, German, Japanese, and American administrations of our islands. The last panel of the mural reflects modern day CNMI. Each panel sits inside brick-like arches meant to emphasize the influence of the Catholic Church in our islands. |

Another shot using the 12 foot tripod. We noticed that the Gigapan was swaying a bit in the wind. Spencer was concerned, since 'there were times when I could lean back at burning man, and the wind would keep me up.' This was stitched with an experimental stitcher version. |
