This is a big gigapan I shot on Saturday evening. It's a huge Gigapan and took 16 hours to stitch. 47 images wide X 23 images tall totaling 1081 images.
I missed some of the balloons on the first pass so I backed the unit up and reshot a section. The lighter background in the sky was caused when I readjusted the exposure during shooting. The sun was setting fast and light was fading. A beautiful evening at the 2009 Bristol balloon fiesta saw over 90 balloons launched from Ashton Park. Great to see the piper flying again after many years. Spot the UP balloon with it's house underneath too. The tower is the camera obscura, the first panoramic viewer where you view the image projected through the periscope on a white dished horizontal table. ... according to the hillside. The light was deteriorating fast as a thunderstorm approached from the west. Twice I had to pause this pan for stretches of rain. I did get it done though, and the exposure is not as bad as I had feared it would be. Changing light can really wreak havoc on a big pan such as this. More than a few times I've had to abort a large pan and either give up entirely (as with the one I tried to shoot right after this one) or reduce it to a much smaller size to complete it (for example, see http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/29662/). |

The heat is almost unbearable and here we have a choice of a cool campechana or an explosive water main. Even though the cool campechana is great, on this day, I'd take the water main.
To take this panorama, I had to act fast; by the time I took the last photo on the right, the two dudes had shut off the water and it seems that the cars going by confused either me or the Stitcher. |

This very large pool is geothermaly heated and is much warmer at the narrow, shallow end, turning into normal pool temperatures by the lap swimming and diving end. It is located next to the Colorado River. |

What does the inside of a hot spring deposit look like? Berti and Edi know! |
