I am looking for assistance from Geologist and earth scientists on the identification of this type of rock formation on Ishigaki island. This rock formation is on the southern end of Ishigaki island.It is ocean side of Toujin Baka(chinese Grave site monument) There is also a small park and Lighthouse at the point. This area of ishigaki is across from the Taketomi Island port. The rock formation extends into the ocean but is bordered on both sides by extensive coral and sand beach. This gigapan is a portion of the rock formation that was exposed well and not in water. The unusual wave like rocks caught our attention.Small chunks of rock that are blue green,reddish and orange are scattered around the formation and in the ocean.This area has Ryukyu limestone formations but this does not look like limestone. |

On a cloudy day this is my first gigapan in Ishigaki island ,Okinawa,Japan
The place is Tamatorizaki viewpoint looking north to Hirakubo peninsula.This area is the narrowest part of Ishigaki island and to the left of image is the East China Sea and to the right is the Pacific Ocean. Note the extensive coral reefs. The town of Ibaruma is in the foreground. |

Hirakubo peninsula. This is the Pacific ocean view. Note the extensive reef system. This panorama is taken from the paraglider jump site. |

One of the most beautiful spots on Ishigaki Island. On the north western part of the island,
green and blue waters and white sand beaches. No swimming but many glass bottom boats to see the coral reefs. site of black pearl cultivation. This beautiful example of nature is also a reflection of the wonderful hospitality of the people ofIshigaki. |

We had lunch here and some time for the students from Kauai to relax and play during which time I could set up and take this gigapan of Nagura. This is the central area of Ishigaki and the primary industry is sugar cane( satokibi). Rich agricultural land. |

This gigapan was taken from a bridge to the north of Sokubaru Dam and reservoir before the Omoto tunnel. Captured here a mix native forest area above reservoir containing Ryukyu pine and tree ferns with other tropical genera. Tropical Island Ecosystem biology. |
