Florence With assistance from my cousin Marco Goretti of Poppi, Italy No matter how many times one sees it, when arriving and viewing the skyline of Florence it takes one’s breath away. The best place to see the city in panorama is from the Piazza Michaelangelo. Visible in this panorama are most of the famous landmarks of Florence: Ponte Vecchio, Palazzo Vecchio, Il Duomo, and more. It was 95 degrees on a hot July morning when I took this image. I was surrounded by curious people interested in the gigpan and its process. What a trip! The beautiful Lake Maggiore in northern Italy. These islands are Isola Bella (the big one with the ornamental gardens) and Isola Pescatore photographed from the town of Stresa. Don't miss the wonderful architecture and gardens. You may like this other gigapan from across the lake to the right. http://share.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=13537 |

Across the water from the famous Marcus square and all the other sights there is the church of San Giorgio on a small island. From it's Campanile (Bell Tower) you have a wonderful overview over Venice, Italy. |
