This is the second shot I took here (and appeared in twice) at the lovely Clifton Lido. Try their custard tarts but leave one for me! This was done on auto setting and apart from the sky seems to have worked better than the previous manual one. The newly re-furbished Victorian Lido which lay derelict for almost 20 years is now a health spa, swimming pool and super restaurant. |

The beautiful Lake Maggiore in northern Italy. These islands are Isola Bella (the big one with the ornamental gardens) and Isola Pescatore photographed from the town of Stresa. Don't miss the wonderful architecture and gardens. You may like this other gigapan from across the lake to the right. http://share.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=13537 |

The Wills Memorial Building was built using funds supplied by the Wills tobacco family and finished in 1926. It is part of Bristol University and stands at the top of Park Street in Bristol. See the small pic of the tower at the bottom right.
This is my first 360 degree panorama and so is experimental. It was taken from the top of a 3 metre stand which I trundled up the tower. See also http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=24574 and http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=27492 There's actually very much more to see on this Gigapan than you may at first think. Explore Bristol! A much better version is a 360 degree shot from a 6 metre stand showing even more. See it at at http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/33892/ |

This is the town square (Market Place) in Kelso, a beautiful town in the Scottish Borders. I gained access to an office opposite the town hall courtesey of Hastings (solicitor) to try my first attempt at this subject. Part way through the 518 pictures it went cloudy and began raining (hence the dark patches) Maybe I should have used auto exposure on this one. I'll be trying again to get perfection. Selkirk Common Riding is a festival which commemorates the return to the town in 1513, of Fletcher. He was the only one of the townsmen who survived the battle and came home with an English Flag. After the riding of the towns boundaries and the Casting of the Colours in the town Square, the flag is returned to the Provost. This year's standard bearer was James Cheyne. I had managed two larger gigapans of 240 shots each but the ceremony was coming to an end and so I quickly readjusted to do this small one of 48 shots. The platform party were standing still luckily!! Try these ones too http://share.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=25995 and http://share.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=26053

In June 2009 a surprise exhibition of art by Banksy, the Bristolian graffiti artist, was opened at the Bristol City Museum. The amazing popularity of the exhibition took the museum by surprise as nearly 400,000 people queued for up to 5 hours to see the free show which closed on 31st August.
The tower is the Wills Memorial tower of Bristol University. Built after the first world war in gothic style it is probably the biggest clock in the world without a clockface. You only know the time if you hear the bell, Great George, striking the hour!!
