Trakai Island Castle (Lithuanian: Trakų salos pilis) is located in Trakai, Lithuania on an island on the shores of Lake Galvė. The castle is sometimes referred to as "Little Marienburg". The construction of the stone castle was begun in the 14th century by Kęstutis, and around 1409 major works were completed by his son Vytautas the Great, who died in this castle in 1430. Trakai was one of the main centers of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the castle held great strategic importance. [From Wikipedia.]

Lake Como (Lago di Como in Italian, also known as Lario; Lach de Comm in Insubric; Latin: Larius Lacus) is a lake of glacial origin in Lombardy, Italy. It has an area of 146 km², making it the third largest lake in Italy, after Lake Garda and Lake Maggiore. At over 400 m (1320 ft) deep it is one of the deepest lakes in Europe and the bottom of the lake is more than 200 metres (656 ft) below sea-level.
Very nice view in Google Earth, as this is a 360° panorama |

The "lakefront" in Columbia, Maryland, as seen from across Lake Kittamaqundi. One of America's first "planned communities," Columbia works hard to maintain a very liveable environment. There are many small lakes and parks where strolling and biking are encouraged. Lake Kittamaqundi is located in Columbia's Town Center, just across the street from The Mall in Columbia. It is lined with a boardwalk and paved bike paths. There are many restaurants, condos, and a hotel on the lakefront. The fall foliage shows up well in our first(!) panorama obtained on October 25, 2009. There are also some Canada geese in the water. |

Uerikon is a small village at the lake of Zurich between Stäfa and Rapperswil. Uerikon is part of the political municipality of Stäfa.
There is a nice walking trail above the vineyards between Stäfa and Uerikon called Goetheweg. Built with Panoramastudio Pro You find my panoramas with http://gigapan.org/gigapans/most_popular/?q=fritz+hanke or http://gigapan.org/gigapans/most_recent/?q=fritz+hanke |

A lovely fall sunset in Salt Lake City, looking south from the mountiains above Terrace Hills Drive. Wasatch mountains are on the left. Hand shot, stitched with AutoPano pro. The southern Phoenix "urban village" of Ahwatukee Foothills as seen from on top of one of the foothills on the south side of South Mountain. This land was un-developed as a residential community twenty five years ago. The owner of much of this land had been International Harvester who operated a proving ground for their heavy equipment. Close to 85,000 people live here in the 'world's largest cul-de-sac' that is isolated from downtown Phoenix by South Mountain. This hilltop is 3.5mi from the exit off of I-10 and is halfway to the last home in the west end of the village. To the south is the Gila River Indian Community, some of which has been developed as a casino and resort. |

Stand on top of the sledding hill and you get a pretty good view of the city, Burnham Harbor, Soldier Field, The Shedd Aquarium and lots more.
Shot again with a G10, this is 248 degrees out of 360 to avoid shooting into the sun. I'll be back when the harbor opens and the sky clears |

This view shows lake Grevelingen, the old city of Goedereede and nature area Koudenhoek. This area is a favorite place for many birds for a winter stay over.
--------------------------------------------------------------- The 184 images (in 4 rows) for this 360 degree panorama are shot with a GigaPan Beta2 robot and a Canon G9 @ 210mm. Generally the GigaPan stitcher is doing a very fine job but it always fails to stitch the horizon without errors in scenes like this one. Because the stitcher lacks any option to manualy position an image it is very often not the best tool to use so I hope the people of GigaPan will give the stitcher more options to make manually positioning possible. So instead of the GigaPan stitcher I had to stitch the images in PTGui 8.1 but with this application 59 images (1/3 of all images !) were not placed in the proper position (due to missing control points in all images of the toprow and a lot of images in the water) so I had to place those images myself in the right position. Manually placing so many images is a hard and almost undoable task and therefore I wrote a HyperCard script (running on a Mac with Classic OS9) to this job for me. Basicly the script is searching for a "anchor" image nearby in the same row and is then placing the image based on the position of that anchor image. To make it work at least one image in every row has to be in the proper position. As you can see the script did a great job. :-) I hope you enjoy the view. ------------------------------------------------------------------- |
