Shot from an RV rooftop at Esplanade at 2:45 as the magical rainbow on Friday afternoon is fading. More than 360 degrees here. |

A 750 megapixel (shrunk to 500mpix) shot of the open playa and some of the city from Black Rock City / Burning Man in 2009. See all the playa art and many of the Esplanade camps and people about their day.
Sadly, I discovered after the fact that a lens defect in my 70-200L that I had had repaired had returned, making the edges of the components fuzzy, and as such there are fuzzy and sharp regions in the photo, but still tons to explore. On 11/18/1999 Texas A&M, Home of the 12th Man, lost 12 Aggies when the bonfire they were building collapsed at 2:42 in the morning. This memorial was erected in their honor. Each portal tells a story about each person. Also when you stand in each portal, you are facing in the direction of that persons hometown. This is a 360 degree view. GIG'EM AGS |

Back in 2003 this was one of the larger single row panoramas ever made, with a 70mm lens and a Canon 1Ds 11MP camera. It's taken from 7 o'clock and Esplanade in 2003 and has lots of detail of the city and playa for that year. |

About 30 minutes into the Burning of the Man, he's still standing -- normally he falls quickly. I went to the Esplanade and captured the night playa scene, including the huge crowd of art cars and people around the burn.
Note that this city is completely off the electrical grid and entirely temporary. A few months later you can't readily tell it was there. For full details and more panoramas go to http://www.templetons.com/brad/burn/ |

Each year the Temple is built by an amazing crew, and people inscribe the names of the dead within it. It burns Sunday in a solemn ceremony, unlike the burning of the Man.
