Coca Cola no doubt intended for this park to be used by business types, or perhaps for the students of the local university, Georgia Tech. Alas, Atlanta does not take good care of its citizens and the park is used as a place to sleep for the many homeless. And Georgia Tech students are kept from the park by a fence, or perhaps the residents of the park are kept from Georgia Tech. |

There are paths all throughout Griffith Park, where the observatory is perched. I walked down the hill a couple hundred yards to get this profile of the building against the dusk sky. |

Night shot under University Ave at 4th Ave, Berkeley. Brennan's restaurant and bar on the left, Spenger's Grotto on the right.
Used a 3 second self timer, so camera jitter would settle down, and a 1.6 second exposure. I (finally!) turned off image stabilization, and I think that makes a different. I also spent time fiddling with the white balance. I had a calibration target with me, but I ended up taking some test shots and looking at them in the display and decided that 'Daylight Fluorescent' was the effect I liked. 40 images f 3.2 1.6 second exposure iso 200 Focal Length: 59mm I put the gigapan into manual mode and hand triggered each exposure. |

The film school at Chapman University. Shot with the beta imager, this is my first "big" image, comprised of 180 2-second exposures. There were constantly things moving in the scene, cars coming and going, students walking around, but none of them interfered with the shot. It was like it had all been choreographed, a very pleasing experience. Sometimes, I have all the luck...The light to the right of the building, appears to be burnt out. Otherwise, this would have proven to be quite the flare monster. |
