Ka`ena Point Natural Area Reserve, the westernmost tip of O`ahu. I used manual exposure settings; the bands are caused by rapidly moving clouds blocking the sun. How many nesting Laysan Albatross can you find? |

_Gunnera_petaloidea_ on Mt. Ka`ala, west O`ahu, 3,600 ft. (1100 m.) elevation rainforest. I took this image in the few minutes available between downpours. It's only 168 frames, about 1/4 of what I hope to take at a more opportune time. For scale, the leaves are about 1 meter across. |

This is the weed overgrown habitat of one of only two O`ahu populations of the endangered endemic fern _Marsilea villosa_. Molokai also harbors a few small populations. See if you can find any leaves that look like a 4-leaf clover; those would be the fronds of the `Ihi`ihilauakea. |
