Messed this one up about three times and finally just went with this version. This area of the Universal Studios Theme Park is right near such attractions as The Mummy, Disaster (formerly Earthquake) and on the way to Jaws. |

This is a "time lapse snapshot" of a disc golf tournament in Huntington Beach, California. Disc golf is like regular golf, but uses frisbees instead of balls and clubs. The holes are metal baskets with chains designed to catch the discs. For more info, check out www.pdga.com.
For this panorama, I took shots of many different players driving, putting, and walking the course over a 2 hour period. Then I overlayed the action shots on the gigapan image, creating what I'm calling a "time lapse snapshot" of the final round (18 holes) of the open division at the tournament. |

Pano of the 2009 Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Saturday combined car show taken from a hilltop tee on the Schenley Park Golf Course, immediately following very short rain. After about 4 hours of great weather, empty parking spots are peppered amongst the cars. In view is the BMW Marque of the Year area, Porsche, Swedish, French, Japanese and "The Cortile" Italian area atop the opposite hill by the clubhouse. |

Taken at the intersection of Barlett and Hobart Streets. This was a fairly challenging gigapan because of the hills, trees, spectators and very limited locations to set up without a media pass or getting in the way. I ended up standing on a small grassy hill wedged between hot staging areas, fences and crosswalks. |

This first shot on this popular recreational location is less crowded with moving people then the smaller second shot which has been shown earlier. Therefore this shot of 414 photo's was actually not showing so much loose limbs and twisted people due to the movement. I had to spend 1.5 hours to manipulate 7 photo's in such a way that the same moving people would show up on all surrounding photo's.
Apart from water ripples the most noticeable stitching errors could be corrected ! Although this Gigapan is showing less people to explore, it still is worthwhile because this photo turned out a bit sharper focused then the other one. If you start to zoom in on the right side you will find a water-ski track with 2 skiers plowing away. Further to the left you can find many people sunbathing and swimming on the next 3 beaches. This Gigapan could actually be printed on 300 ppi resolution and stretched on Canvas from Kodak ( 9 meter ). |
