The Gates Center is to be the new home of CMU's Computer Science Department. We have a great view in the CREATE lab of the building going up - it's hard to believe now that only four months or so have passed since the first steel beams went up.
Here are some other Gigapans of the Gates Center, going from most recent to oldest: http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=8929 http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=8048 http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=7006 http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=4826 http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=2006 http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=199 |

Intersection of Aiken and Centre. Showing the First United Methodist Church. This intersection is also the end of Liberty Avenue, as it merges into Aiken. |

Beth T took a LOT of pictures by hand of Pittsburgh (waterfront/bridge) and used the sticher to stich them together. The tiff file of this appears entirely different from the GigaPan, and the GigaPan viewed in the statcher looks prettty different from the GigaPan here on the site.

This image was a preliminary study for the creation of a detailed, 360-degree panorama of the Pittsburgh area from the top of the US Steel Tower and produced in conjunction with an investigation being conducted by David Bear at Carnegie Mellon University's Studio for Creative Inquiry. This panorama in the failing light shows Woodland Hall, the library in the distance, Braun Hall, Laughlin Hall, and the chapel. Unfortunately night pretty much fell before I could complete the 360. Should have started earlier in the day, but I had schoolwork to do myself. |
