This panorama compliments an earlier GigaPan of this area, the one of paint-shop Richard: http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/36672/
This hand-held panorama taken from the southwest corner of Baker Institute shows a geologist with her friends and family. Also, a segment of the Berlin Wall can be seen as well. This 17-photo, 360-degree panorama was taken hand-held using a Leica D-Lux 3 and stitched using the GigaPan Stitcher. The following GigaPan of Miss Lillian was taken last year and a bit earlier: http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/18256/ , the view in which we see budding trees: http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/18256/snapshots/54167/ Now in this GigaPan, we see the Cherry Trees in full bloom. This 17-photo, 360-degree panorama was taken hand-held using a Leica D-Lux 3 and stitched using the GigaPan Stitcher. There are numerous views of this area that can be found in earlier GigaPans, but I would say that none of them were taken on such a beautiful day as what this was. A special one was taken 12 months before during the construction of Audrey Moody Ley Plaza: http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/18294/ This hand-held panorama taken in the Audrey Moody Ley Plaza features Tudor Fieldhouse, Jake Hess Tennis Stadium and Reckling Baseball Park, home of the Rice Owls, 2003 National Collegite Baseball Champions. This 18-photo, 360-degree panorama was taken hand-held using a Leica D-Lux 3 and stitched using the GigaPan Stitcher. All of Wendy's GigaPans can be seen via this link: http://tinyurl.com/rice-wendy This GigaPan was taken of Keck Hall in mid-January when the students returned from Christmas break. To my eye, it is the best that I have taken and I am very pleased with it. As one can readily see, it was taken late in the afternoon and it was a blue-sky day. Other recent panoramas of Keck Hall can be seen here: http://www.gigapan.org/searchGigapansList.php?ids=42391,42388,42395 This GigaPan is comprised of 924 photos and was extracted from a much larger version, which can be seen here: http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/cdf070680010e7a6115e513324d33e3a/ It is a 33 column by 28 row GigaPan taken with a Canon SX110 camera and stitched with the GigaPan Stitcher. Additional details can be found in Stitcher Notes with information concerning the GigaPan Stitcher run. The alumni game happens once every two years and is a special time for the baseball alumni to return to play ball.

The trees in front of Keck Hall are gorgeous this time of the year and to be able to see this scene with blue sky present is really a sight to see. I have a number of blue-sky panoramas taken while visiting Rice campus: http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/21048/ and http://www.panoramio.com/photo/31889046 are only two of many. This panorama is comprised of 21 photographs, which were taken with a Nikon D-70 using a Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 macro lens and was stitched using the GigaPan Stitcher software. This small hand-held panorama (eight photos stitched with the GigaPan Stitcher) shows that *maybe* Spring is now here in Houston after a short, but deep Winter.
The sunlight and shadows indicate that this was taken right at about noon, maybe 12:05 this past Sunday and was taken prior to an enjoyable Chinese meal of dim sum. The camera used was a Leica D-Lux 3. |
