The dominant view from Artist Point is the lower Yellowstone Waterfall looking upstream to the south. In the other direction are these beautiful colors in the rocks.

Taken from a bluff on the south shore of the Republican River wetlands at the head of the Harlan Reservoir south of Alma, Nebraska. I was really hoping to capture all the waterfowl on the lake but most turn out to be too distant to be identified even with the Gigapan's zoom. There was even a bald eagle flying around, though he didn't end up in the picture. |

The Lafayette Bridge was constructed in 1968 using the standard design, detailing and fabrication methods of the late 1960’s. Like many bridges of that era, it has developed a history of structural steel fatigue problems that may not pose an immediate safety risk, but still requires the constant attention of Mn/DOT’s bridge inspectors. The Lafayette Bridge, a part of Hwy. 52 that carries 81,000 vehicles a day and spans the Mississippi River near downtown St. Paul, is the state's most-traveled bridge with troubles similar to the I-35W bridge. Like that bridge, the Lafayette is "fracture-critical," meaning that if one part fails the whole bridge could fall. |

One of two pans of Horseshoe Bend, a lovely incised meander near Page, Arizona (just east of Glen Canyon Dam).
Erosion by the Colorado River cut down through the layers of sedimentary rock and created the deep gorge (approx. 1000 feet deep here). [We also took another pan from the same point (http://gigapan.org/gigapans/33155/) with a different camera.] |

Maidstone River England...This image was shot on a Canon 400d DSLR and was the first Gigapan with the new DSLR Mount that I had made. The lens was the standard kit lens 18-55mm. the camera lens was set to 55mm, the rest of the setup was standard stuff. The gigapan worked very well with the extra load with no problems of any kind, I will try it again with a Longer focal lens but i dont think I will go above 105mm. the camaera I used before the 400d was a Canon G9, but was to total happy with the Image that i got and the extra hassle setting up the camera Focus etc... |

My first Gigapan. This is the I-405 bridge which parallels I-5 through Portland. The upper deck goes South, the lower deck goes North. Shot on the West side of the Willamette River, looking SE.
