This large gigglepan is what I call a superpan with over 800 images making it up. It's well worth exploring. This is called "the floating harbour" because the water is held in by lock gates. Otherwise the boats would all end up resting on the mud at low tide twice each day. The SS Great Britain, built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel was the first ever iron hulled, screw propellor driven liner and was the largest in the world when it was built. it was brought back to the dock in which it was built to be restored in the 1970s and is now an award winning museum. Moored next to it is a replica of The Matthew: the little wooden ship in which John Cabot sailed from Bristol in 1495 to discover the North American mainland (Newfoundland). This replica, also built in Bristol, retraced that journey on the 500th anniversary of the original voyage in 1995. From the tower at the Chanel Islands National Park. This was taken on Memorial Day 2009 as part of a set from the tower. Lots of activity on the water resulted in lots of things getting cut off. Taken using Gigapan Epic 100 and Canon S5 IS |

Memorial Day Weekend, 2009 at Ventura Harbor, California. This was done using the Gigapan Epic 100 and a Canon S5 IS, this is 750 images at 12x zoom. Each shot was 80 ISO, with an aperature of 4.5. This took almost 90 minutes to shoot. Each shot was repeated three times using the Epic 100 multishot function. The total 2,250 8mp shots was done with one memory card and one set of batteries for each the camera and Gigapan! |

Chesil Beach is one of the finest barrier beaches in the World and forms part of the Dorset and East Devon 'Jurassic Coast' World Heritage Site.
The beach stretches some 28km west from Portland to West Bay. The pebbles are famously graded from cobbles here at Portland, to pea sized gravel at West Bay. Behind the beach lies the village of Chiswell, Portland harbour, where the 2012 sailing Olympics will take place, and the Fleet Lagoon which is important for its wildlife both above and below the water. The beach has withstood the forces of the sea for thousands of years but is occasionally over topped by storms and is slowly moving on shore and loosing its volume. One bay it will break up but when? |

This is a full size replica of Columbus' ship. It's moored in the waterpark at West Edmonton Mall along with the submarines (left) Note: This is only a test for exposure, perspective and composition. I had trouble with vibration on some frames during the 1/10 sec. exposures, also with the sun darting in and out of the clouds making for uncertain lighting. Will be doing another re-shoot shortly...in the meantime, have fun exploring! |

Das Ergebnis ist gluecklicherweise trotzdem verwertbar gewesen. :-) |
