High resolution pan shot from the Alki Beach area across Elliott Bay. The vantage point from which this was shot is very close to that of an earlier pan. The season is different, and this one was shot through a telescope with a 1000mm focal length.
This pan focuses on the main skyline. To include more recognizable landmarks such as the Space Needle would have nearly doubled the size, processing time, and amount of manual intervention required. |

Goofing off yesterday afternoon I decided to test the lighting of doing a panorama indoors. So, I used my office as the test subject. The result is interesting - and not too bad for the first try. This was 350 pictures. I need to try the version with 1,100 pictures next. |

This is a view from the Magnolia Bridge overlooking Interbay, West Queen Anne Hill, fishing boats at Pier 91, and Downtown Seattle.
Shot with Panasonic Lumix GF1, 45-200mm @ 200mm (400mm 35 equiv), on a Gigapan Epic100 which ran out of battery power in the middle of what was supposed to be a much larger panorama :( |

This view overlooks the several construction sites in Seattle's South Lake Union neighborhood that will become the new headquarters for Internet retailer Amazon.com. It was shot from the top of a parking structure used by the Seattle Times newspaper. In this view, Amazon's buildings start with the construction site closest to the camera's viewpoint (looking West towards the Space Needle) and extend several blocks to the right (North). The South Lake Union area is currently transitioning from a light industrial area, to one of business offices and high density residential, due to many new construction projects over the past few years.
This was shot using a Panoscan MK3 digital panoramic camera & Mamiya 80mm lens. (single 360 degree exposure, no stitching) I wish the gigapan uploader did not compress the image so much. The original TIFF image is much sharper when zoomed all the way in. |

This is my fourth attempt at producing a gigapan. It is rather small, but I finally got one that is acceptable. I do have a question though...how does one print a copy or email a copy? Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

A 19-shot (9x2 + 1 extra) multi-row panorama, taken with a Bogen 3421 gymbal head and my Sigma SD14 with Sigma 70-200/2.8 EX lens. ISO 100, 159mm, 1/250 @ f/4.5.
Still learning the tricks and techniques to get good multi-row panos. I need to let the camera/tripod settle down a bit longer, as there is very slight motion blur in some of the images. |
