Taken on a blue-sky day in the Academic Quad of Rice University. The students, for the most part, have left for the Holidays and have returned to their homes; however, there are a few who remain who relish the oppurtunity to stroll about campus on a beautiful December day.
This hand-held panorama is comprised of 38 photographs, which were taken with a Nikon D70 camera using a Nikkor 28-80 f/3.3-5.6G lens and was stitched using the GigaPan Stitcher software. An amazing day in Houston! The fog lasted and lasted all day and even became thicker as the day went on. This panorama is one of a continuing series of Wendy from Chengdu, a Rice Owl. This panorama is comprised of 23 photographs, which were taken with a Nikon D-70 using a Nikkor 28-80 f/3.3-5.6G lens and was stitched using the GigaPan Stitcher software. If I had kept the camera at the constant, correct axis, it would have connected as a 360-degree panorama. The entire series of eleven Rice Snowstorm 2009 panoramas can be seen via this link: http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/most_popular/?q=blizzard+riceu This hand-held panorama was taken on December 4, 2009 at about 2 PM and I am looking towards Lovett Hall from the general area of Willy. As you can readily see, there are a number of people taking snow photos to show their children and grandchildren. Seriously, snowfall like this is *rare* in Houston. This panorama is comprised of 22 photographs, which were taken with a Nikon D-70 using a Nikkor 28-80 f/3.3-5.6G lens and was stitched using the GigaPan Stitcher software. The entire series of eleven Rice Snowstorm 2009 panoramas can be seen via this link: http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/most_popular/?q=blizzard+riceu This hand-held panorama was taken in the Academic Quad on December 4, 2009 a little after 2 PM and I am standing close to Fondren Library looking toward Lovett Hall. There are many students taking photographs of this most memorable scene and one lady in her 4th year of study at Rice was amazed at what she was seeing. This panorama is comprised of 25 photographs, which were taken with a Nikon D-70 using a Nikkor 28-80 f/3.3-5.6G lens and was stitched using the GigaPan Stitcher software. The following is taken from the better panorama version of Wendy: http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/37602/
I met Wendy as she was approaching the Academic Quad and we chatted and I discovered that she has lived in Chengdu, and that she is taking a difficult curriculum at Rice and that she was very close to the epicenter of the 2008 Sichuan earthquake (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Sichuan_earthquake). She cheerfully participated in this hand-held, 360 degree panorama. This hand-held, 360-degree panorama was taken with a Leica D-Lux 3 camera and was stitched using the GigaPan Stitcher software. Additional details can be found on Stitcher Notes with information there concerning the GigaPan Stitcher run. Note: The reason that this panorama is distorted is due to user error when editing the hand-held files. What you see is the first stitch, the better version as notated above was created from unedited photos. |
