From the tower at the Chanel Islands National Park. This was taken on Memorial Day 2009 as part of a set from the tower. Lots of activity on the water resulted in lots of things getting cut off. Taken using Gigapan Epic 100 and Canon S5 IS |

Memorial Day Weekend, 2009 at Ventura Harbor, California. This was done using the Gigapan Epic 100 and a Canon S5 IS, this is 750 images at 12x zoom. Each shot was 80 ISO, with an aperature of 4.5. This took almost 90 minutes to shoot. Each shot was repeated three times using the Epic 100 multishot function. The total 2,250 8mp shots was done with one memory card and one set of batteries for each the camera and Gigapan! |

I am uploading this Gigapan a second time after cropping off the jagged edges and replacing the mountain top image that was blurry in the initial upload on June 11, 2009.
My experimental decision to use the "Infinity" focus on the Nikon P90 for this Gigapan worked out generally OK. However, in the left bottom foreground the rocks and dandilions, surprisingly were sometimes in focus and other times not. It would be interesting to try to shoot a Gigapan where objects close to the camera were in sharp focus as well as those in the distance. It would take a lot of time and processing work, but it seems possible to reshoot and replace some of the single tiled images to create this effect. |

This was the biggest concentration of tall ships at Boston Sail 2009.
Here we the the Sagres, the Concordia, and Mircea. I'll have to check on the name of the white ship to the right of the Concordia. Note: my second largest gigapan to date - 520 8MP images. |

Mystic Seaport: The Museum of America and the Sea is a great place to visit whenever you are in Connecticut. The seaport is a replica of an 1800's New England coastal town. Visitors get a chance to explore the wooden ships that are moored at the docks, and to see how a seaport supported the ships and crews. Don't forget to stop by the planetarium for a star show or for lessons in navigation.

From atop the Channel Islands National Park tower in the Ventura Harbor a view of the ocean. This was a third floor view with a reasonably good wind trying to push the camera around. Taken with a Gigapan Epic 100 and a Canon S5 IS. |
