This is a nice view from the mouth of the ice caves just about an hour East of Granite Falls, WA. The sun was in the wrong position to get the panorama of the ice caves themselves, and I was with a large party and did not have time to get the pic, so I guess another trip is in order to get that one. |

Nothing quite like a chair lift to get one to a good vantage point! And I got done shooting this one just in time, too - an approaching thunderstorm threatened to shut down the lift within a half an hour of the time I got off the mountain. |

Full 360 degrees this time. Stitcher 0.4.4329 fixes my 360 issue. Yay GigaPan Team! The ridgeline at the center of South Mountain Park offers a full view of the Phoenix area. From snow capped peaks 50 miles to the east to the open desert of the west this 360 degree pano shows it all. It was not a perfectly clear day but you can still see the snow on Mount Lemmon, over 90 miles away to the south. In downtown, among the high rises you can see a gigantic portrait of Yao Ming, put on the side of the building across from the site of the NBA Allstar Game as part of an advertisement for T-Mobile. All four major sports venues are visible as well as ASU's Sun Devil Stadium. |

Obergurgl-Hochgurgl 1.800 - 3.080m where snow is always guaranteed.
Located in the upper Ötztal Valley on the main Alpine ridge. Total slope length 110km (Hochgurgl ski area: approx. 54 km, Obergurgl ski area: approx. 56 km): Took this panorama end of April and as you can see there are not many people on the slope even the snow conditions was excellent. 360° spherical panorama mode of 420 pictures at focal length of 120mm. As usual best viewed with Google Earth or here: http://www.360cities.net/area/oetztal Some other spherical panoramas I made there: http://www.360cities.net/image/mountain-star-wurmkogl-alps-austria |

Aspen Highlands Maroon Bowl on Closing Day, 2009. Ed Armstrong Speed-Fly's Maroon Bowl. Speed-Flying is like paragliding, but the kite is much smaller and therefore the speed is much higher. You use skiis to get enough speed for takeoff. Its a pretty radical and exciting sport only practiced by a few.
Maroon Bowl is on the backside of the Fantastic Highlands Bowl at Aspen Highlands Ski Resort. It is in the backcountry and has significant risks including a river to cross at the bottom, but the turns are sweet. You can view many more Colorado Gigapans by me here: http://share.gigapan.org/viewProfile.php?userid=414 Please send your teenagers on an excellent summer education adventure teaching sailing, scuba diving, and marine biology in the British Virgin Islands - http://www.odysseyexpeditions.com |

Seefeld is a village in the Tirol province of Austria and is located 17 km northwest of Innsbruck. It is a popular destination for walking holidays in the summer, and winter sports in winter. It has two main mountain areas (for walking or skiing) - one is the round hill "Gschwandtkopf" and the other is a series of mountains (known incorrectly as "Roßhütte" after the large mountain restaurant half-way up). These mountains dominate the Seefeld plateau - from left/north to right/south, they are the Seefelderjoch, Seefelderspitze, Härmelekopf and Reitherspitze.
This is a spherical panorama made up of 460 images at focal length of 120mm. As usual best viewed with Google Earth or here: http://www.360cities.net/image/seefelder-joch-tirol-austria |

A very very windy day on top of Baldy Mountain, at 13,300 feet. My friend Ed and I hiked up here so he could fly down on his speed kite, but it was far too windy, blowing at 50mph (it was calm when we left a couple hours before, and from 6000 feet lower...) I had to wedge the tripod into the peak rock pile to keep the gigapan unit from blowing away, then we went and hid from the wind under the snowbank. Taking the glove off momentarily to connect the Gigapan power and the thumb screw on the camera was painful. You cant see the aspect we skied down, it is from the top of the large mound behind us. It was steep and solid, a wonderful backcountry day, although Ed did no flying. The Gigapan unit caught lift at the end of the serious, causing the camera to point to the sky and missing the final four columns. The stitcher still decided to join them but four columns are indeed missing. |
