Red Lake Peak and Stevens Peak reside to the south of Lake Tahoe, alongside of Highway 88, near Carson Pass. This is a very popular area for backcountry skiing, snowmobiling, and other winter recreation.
I accidentally switched my G9 out of manual focus mode and only discovered it about halfway through the shooting so unfortunately the chutes behind the foreground rocks, and to the left of Stevens Peak are out of focus when you zoom in. |

Shot from the south side of Lake Tahoe's Emerald Bay in Emerald Bay State Park just off of highway 89. Something was auto-adjusting on the camera, so the picture has this weird halo effect. The camera was brand new to me at this time, so I didn't know how to disable all of the features. |

A view of Lake Tahoe from Rose Knob Peak (9710 ft) above Incline Village. These photos were taken at 3:30 PM, when the sun was still rather high in the sky, on a very clear day. I'd love to reshoot this with more interesting lighting. There is one stiching artifact that is very noticeable along the west shore. |

Mount Tallac is one of the most visible peaks along the southwest shore of Lake Tahoe. It also happens to be one of the best and most popular peaks for backcountry skiing in the Tahoe Sierra. This photo was taken on the northeast side of the peak at about 6700 ft, near the start of the most popular winter approach route for skiers. |

While most Nevada side beaches have coarse sand that is tough on the feet, Tahoe's prevailing breezes deposit a fine grained white sand here that is the harbor's namesake.
My friends, diving in the chilly snowy waters in October. |
