Opposite face of the historic Pomona Cotton Mill undergoing demolition. See: http://gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=3343
The dark brick area on the right was caused by failing to lock the camera's exposure setting.

The Pomona Cotton mill, parts of which date from 1897, comes down. After decades as a textile mill, the building was used as Western Electric plant and spent its last viable years as a shopping complex. The creaky wooden floors and high ceilings at Cotton Mill Square made it a unique destination. After an electrical main failed, the complex closed. Empty for 10 years, the building deteriorated and no one could be found to invest in and save the historic structure. Sadly, it's a scene familiar across the South with the decline of the American textile industry. More history: http://preservationgreensboro.typepad.com/weblog/2008/01/will-the-pomona.html

Downtown Asheville, North Carolina's Pack Square. The Zebulon Vance memorial obelisk is on the far right side. Was going for a 360 when the cold zapped the Gigapan imager's batteries on shot 550 out of about 630 planned.
The Gigapan imager took about 45 minutes to make this panorama.

Although not all are visible here, some 13 tower cranes are at work in Charlotte. This skyline may look dramatically different in a year or so.
