Iemanja is an orisha, originally of the Yoruba religion, who has become prominent in many Afro-
American religions. For the believers she is the ocean, the essence of motherhood, and a
protector of children.

Brazil and Uruguay: Yemanjá, Iemanjá, Janaina
This deity is revered by thousands of people, believers and non-believers in the Umbandismo. On
2 February, thousands of people visit the beaches of the country, some motivated by faith, and
many for the simple power of curiosity.
Believers carry small boats with gifts, which throw the sea as an offering to Iemanja.

The Salto Grande Dam is a dam on the middle course of the Uruguay River, located between the cities of Concordia, Entre Ríos, Argentina, and Salto, Uruguay. Its purpose is the generation of hydroelectricity (in this context it is referred to as Salto Grande Bi-National Hydroelectric Central). Its property is shared between the two countries.

Iguazu Falls, are waterfalls of the Iguazu River located on the border of the Brazilian state of Paraná and the Argentine province of Misiones. The falls divide the river into the upper and lower Iguazu.
