Just a ordinary local park I encountered in Saitama, a prefecture next to Tokyo. I was astounded to see the unique combination of the sculpture, a public restroom and a play ground behind it which is actually a kind of reservoir when it rains heavily.

SOZ (www.soz.jp) is a unique company named after "Sozo" (meaning "creation" in Japanese). This store is located in Namba Parks building. Its art block toy, called "Carpenter Block" is also like no other and has only 6 basic shapes but you can make everything with them. And with the larger size block "RE:MO", life size furniture can be made. These blocks are sold in the US, Canada, France, Sweden, England as well as in Japan. The block is also selected as a permanent collection by “Louvre Museum of Art and Decoration” in Paris.

The construction of the original Osaka castle was started in 1583 and took several years for completion. The castle was burned down in 1615 during the fight between the Toyotomis and the Tokugawas. The winner, the Tokugawas, rebuilt the castle in 1629 but the donjon was burned down again by lightning. The donjon we see today was rebuilt in 1913 using steel and concrete but maintains the historical look of the castle.

The famous author's final resident was converted to the memorial museum. You can look into (but cannot enter) his last study room. The exhibit hall behind the former residence was designed by Tadao Ando, one of the leading architects in Japan.

The Utsubo Park is one of the largest parks in the Osaka city. During the WW II, there was an airstrip for combat planes here.
