FIRST Robotics Competition championship event, in Atlanta GA, April 18, 2009. View of the Georgia Dome stands just prior to the start of the final matches.
Some sub-images show severe blurring, due to the mounting of the tripod - it was sitting on top of a large bank of speakers. Most of the time it was fine, but every now and them during the image capture, the bass would kick in and the vibration rattled the tripod. Most sub-images were re-shot when this happened, but some slipped through.

The center of the "Fremont Street Experience" in old Las Vegas. Or, at least, most of it. The pan was progressing quite nicely and looks pretty good. At least it did right up until the security supervisor drove up and said "You have to leave. You can't conduct professional photography sessions without explicit permission - otherwise we will sue you and have you arrested for trespassing." Those were the magic words - rights to photograph aside, when they tell you to leave the property, you have to. He was very polite, but very specific: "you have to leave - now." I decided not to argue the points about "not a professional effort, non-commercial not-for-profit use, access to presumed public space, yadda, yadda, yadda." But I did get what I needed to get a photo permit for the next visit. So I will try again, and go for a night shot with all the lights.

The birthplace of Imagineering. This is the actual barn that was in the back yard of Walt Disney's home in Holmby Hills, California. Walt Disney was a huge railroad enthusiast, and had an extensive scale railroad built on his property. It was here that Walt – along with fellow Disney animators and railroad enthusiasts like Ward Kimball and Ollie Johnson – operated his workshop and built several scale steam locomotives and an entire railroad. Known as the Carolwood Pacific, his scale railroad provided the inspiration for his vision of a family-oriented theme amusement park that we know now as Disneyland (his description of the park was “I just want it to look like nothing else in the world… and it should be surrounded by a train.”).
Following Disney’s death, his family preserved the barn until the home was sold. The barn was moved to it’s current location on the property of the Los Angeles Live Steamers Railroad Museum, in Griffith Park, Los Angeles, in 1999. It is now operated as a museum by the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society (for more info on the barn, see http://www.carolwood.org/WaltsBarn/ )

Half way up the Golden Canyon trial above Death Valley, looking west. The canyon walls are steep and constricting, causing this area to be viciously scrubbed by debris carried by flash floods that burst through the canyon during the infrequent rain storms. The final chamber of the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial in Washington DC. Additional information is available here: http://history1900s.about.com/library/weekly/aa061401a.htm The statue of Eleanor Roosevelt is also visible in the panorama.
The panorama was shot at mid-day when the memorial was open, and in the middle of a light rain. There were tourists all over the place. Nearly 1000 sub-images were captured to compile the panorama. There are not that many in the final image, but many of them were shot at least twice (or three times), to guarantee that they could be pieced together to remove all the people and just focus on the structure.

FIRST Robotics Competition - Team 116 "Epsilon Delta" (Herndon High School and NASA Headquarters) team picture. Somehow the 21 people that were there magically expanded into at least 183 faces. Yeah, we had some fun with this... ;-)
