The entire series can be seen here: http://tinyurl.com/y9edrjt
What happens on this annual even is that you spend the school week trying to fix up your roommate with a blind date, and if successful, decide on a clothing theme. Then, come Friday evening, all meet in the Academic Quad to find their date based on the clothing theme.
Great fun occurs and this one panorama is only a small taste as to what is to follow. There will be several of these panoramas U/L over the next week.
All these photos are 300dpi, so zoom in and have a good time looking around to see what you can find.
This collection of *panoramas* are similiar to the Beer Bike Parade *panoramas*: To see *portraits* taken at the Beer Bike Parade, click on this link: http://tinyurl.com/RiceUniversity-BeerBikeParade .
These 300-dpi photographs were taken with a Nikon D-70 using a Nikkor 28-80 f/3.3-5.6 G lens and those in the second row were stitched using the GigaPan Stitcher software. As it was close to sunset, most, if not all of the photographs were flash photos (SB-800 flash unit).
The photos were assembled in PhotoShop on an old Mac G5, which was very time consuming, but well-worth the effort.

Woo Hoo... this is exciting stuff here, which I did not know about until a week ago. The Houston Press is a weekly paper and once a year, there is a special issue containing the *best* of everything that the city of Houston offers up, and this issue states that the most scenic park in all of Houston is this park, Elizabeth Baldwin Park. Name ring a bell? She was the wife of William Marsh Rice (not just any William Marsh Rice, but this William Marsh Rice: http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/10339/snapshots/28801/ the founder of Rice Institute). There was a contested will and lots of intrigue between her and William and may be a very interesting read, but this panorama is not about that; rather, it is about this lovely 4.5 acre park having century-old live oaks, which we see in this very special panorama.
This hand-held 360-panorama was taken by my trusty Nikon D70 with a new lens, the Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G. Additional details can be found on Stitcher Notes with information there concerning the GigaPan Stitcher run.
Also, I was happy to get this hard-to-find lens. Due to lens quality and low cost, it is very popular, so I celebrated my good fortune by buying a Heliopan UV filter.

As I walked through Brochstein Pavillion to take a panorama of Herring Hall, guess who I ran into? Right... Rebecca from the Sally Ride GigaPan, http://gigapan.org/gigapans/11021/snapshots/30478/. She was in Brochstein reading and studying and told me that she graduated from Rice in May and has now gone on to Med School, but still studies at Rice.
Anyway, we decided that we would take a panorama and what you see is the first result. The stitch was not perfect, but that is not a problem since she had great fun and I did too. There is another panorama taken of Rebecca today and can be seen at: http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/33656/

After viewing a few items in the museum area of the Morris Center, I walked out of the north door and was presented with this vista, which I quickly took a panorama of. The museum area was so incredible, I will return this week to see more of the museum and also, if I can find more views as striking as this one.

Since this was Wednesday, this must have been taken on the campus of Rice University (I had just been to Fondren Library), and had my new camera lens with me and wanted to test taking a 360 with it and even though there were too many clouds; well, it was only to be a test. As I approached the center of the Engineering Quad, a student walked by and I asked her if she wanted to be in this GigaPan, but she was on the way to class. She recognized me as I had taken portraits of her at a campus costume party a few days before (soon to be uploaded to gigapan.org).
As she was leaving, Alicia came up to me and asked if I was Donald. It seems that she had won an employee award and was going to have her photo taken by the Engineering Department photographer whose name was Donald. To make a long story very short, in this GigaPan, we see Donald taking a few snaps of Alicia.
In this panorama, we see the three famous slabs of granite (http://tinyurl.com/RiceUniversity-EngineeringQuad), Keck Hall (http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/8855/) and Duncan Hall (http://www.gigapan.org/gigapans/9622/).

I travelled to HBU looking for a few panoramas and what I discovered was a number of panoramas, a very interesting building with three museums, one of which has my attention, and Jody, a staff member on the beautiful campus of Houston Baptist University.
