Every Sunday for a year and a half, starting in October 1997, a group of Pittsburgh metal artists sneaked into the abandoned Carrie Furnace site, along with their tools and equipment. They used materials found on site to create a 45' tall deer head. The group - Industrial Arts Collective - is currently working on a large scale sculpture on the former Jones and Laughlin and LTV mill sites, on the South Side of Pittsburgh. An Easter Egg hunt on my front porch. There are three dozen eggs 'hidden', as well as two Easter bunnies, two Mainzelmännchen, one Eeyore, one Rubber Duckie, and if you look really closely you'll find the reflection of the photographer pointing to one of the hidden eggs.
Happy Easter and Happy Hunting!!! [Permission for media use is hereby granted.] |

My first public pano - handheld. Back then it was a struggle to make a pano that was big enough to upload to gigapan.org whereas now, just seven months later, it is a struggle to make panos that fit into the TIF format (i.e. under 2Gb).
Actually, strictly speaking, the pano of the surrounding graveyard was my first pano by about 5 minutes:-) http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=3674. |

Snapshot: 12th Century North Door & 13th Century Porch: So much to see in England and only by car. For me, there is an incredible amount to see at places that has a train station. So, I will probably see St. Swithun's except via photographs or by viewing this wonderful panorama of a small parish church that is struggling with membership numbers, but not struggling with faith.

This is a picture of the Wenatchee River where it passes through Leavenworth, Washington taken on the 11th of October 2008 from a bridge just east of the city center on Hwy 2.
It is made from 10 photos across by 19 photos down at 9MP resolution at max optical zoom of 10X. I had a bit too much overlap, at ~50%, but oh well. Still, not bad for my first one. |

The "front porch" of the Auburn University campus. Formally re-landscaped after Hurricane Opal (1995) destroyed or damaged many of the trees in the area.

This was one of the first 'suburbs' of Pittsburgh... This photo is one side of a street that was once a gated community. It was home to 'middle management' and their families of a Pittsburgh steel mill. | ||||

Our new backyard on Division street in Guelph. The dog and the people are pretty happy with it!
Took out two columns of photos to make a < 360, but it stiched as 360. That's the seam on the edge of the garage. The house is on the Municipal Register of Cultural Heritage Properties Non-Designated Properties list (Burcher-Stokes Properties) in Guelph - largely for a window with semi-elliptical arch and keystone on the front of the house. http://guelphmercury.blogs.com/59_carden_st/2009/05/are-you-on-the-list.html http://guelph.ca/uploads/PBS_Dept/planning/heritageguelph/Registry/Heritage_Directory_properties_interest.pdf pg 49 of 263 page pdf. |
